Assistant Manager - Projects

Job Title: Assistant Manager - Projects Department: Engineering Reporting To: Project Manager Location: Kalurghat Industrial Area, Chittagong, Bangladesh Job Purpose: To lead the design, implementation, and optimization of mechanical systems across process, packaging, and utility domains in FMCG and cosmetics manufacturing. The role demands strong technical expertise in hygienic design, automation integration, and utility systems, along with commercial and project feasibility skills. Key Responsibilities: Process & Packaging Engineering • Design and optimize industrial mixers, CIP skids, and hygienic piping systems. • Engineer filling machines for bottles, tubes, pouches, and sachets. • Oversee case packing, wrapping, and end-of-line automation including robotic and cobot systems. • Lead saponification plant design including soap noodle drying, conveying, storage, and packaging. Utility System Engineering • Design and maintain utility systems including: o Boiler & steam line systems o Demineralized (DM), Reverse Osmosis (RO), and chlorination water systems o Pasteurized water systems o Compressed air systems o Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) • Ensure energy-efficient and process-optimized utility designs. • Select appropriate technologies and equipment for utility systems based on operational needs and sustainability goals. Automation & Integration • Collaborate with electrical and instrumentation teams to integrate mechanical systems with automation platforms (PLC, SCADA, HMI). • Support sensor selection, control logic development, and machine-to-process communication. Procurement & Commercial Evaluation • Prepare and review technical specifications for equipment and systems. • Lead quotation collection, technical bid analysis, and comparative budget studies. • Coordinate with procurement and finance teams for ordering and vendor finalization. Project Feasibility & CAPEX Planning • Conduct feasibility studies for capital investments (CAPEX). • Prepare cost estimations, technical appendices, layout drawings, and business cases. • Support project justification and ROI analysis for new installations and upgrades. Documentation & Compliance • Develop SOPs, maintenance schedules, and technical documentation. • Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, environmental, and hygienic design standards. Candidate Profile: Education: • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from BUET, KUET, RUET, CUET. Experience: • 2–5 years in FMCG, cosmetics, food, pharmaceuticals, heavy industry manufacturing, engineering, project management with hands-on experience in process, packaging, and utility systems. Technical Skills: • Expertise in: o Process equipment (mixers, CIP, saponification) o Packaging machinery (filling, wrapping, case packing) o Utility systems (boiler, RO, DM, compressed air, ETP) o Automation integration (PLC, SCADA, instrumentation) • Proficiency in: o Technical bid evaluation and vendor selection o CAPEX feasibility and cost estimation o Layout and technical documentation preparation Soft Skills: • Energetic, proactive, team player, highly collaborative • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration • Project management and commercial acumen Preferred Attributes: • Experience with GMP, lean manufacturing and energy efficiency initiatives. • Familiarity with hygienic design standards. • Exposure to sustainability and green engineering practices.
