MBS, Unilever’s Marketing and Business Services Procurement team, is responsible for Unilever’s sourcing and supplier strategy and execution for all third party spend across Marketing, Business Services, and IT, supporting the business requirements of Brands, Divisions, Markets, and functions to drive 4G growth through strategic supplier management, cost and value management, sustainability and innovation, aligned with Unilever’s Compass. The team manages an annual spend of ~9B Euro with a supplier base of about 40,000.

Within MBS, the Procurement Manager Business Services HR Support Europe is responsible for the sourcing strategy development, implementation and procurement of some of the HR business services portfolio (Benefits & Rewards, Payroll, Mobility, occupational health etc) for Europe as well as coaching one or two associates. This role will be managing spend of approx. 40-50Mn and will be reporting to the HR Portfolio Strategy lead. He/she will be the MBS representative in Eastern Europe so he/she will need to work very closely with the MBS stakeholders in Eastern Europe to ensure MBS targets and business needs are met.

This procurement manager will increase effectiveness of our business services strategy by creating an expertise-driven model, streamlining accountabilities, building capabilities, and leveraging knowledge, relationships, and business strategies.

He/she will increase efficiency of our procurement organization by driving scale where it makes sense, decreasing fragmentation, pooling expertise across geographies, prioritizing higher impact spend areas, leveraging technology and data, and drive performance that unlocks 4G growth for Unilever.

The role will need to foster and build a culture of collaboration and agility to enable excellent execution of our strategies while fostering deep relationships with our stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Understand the business needs related to business services portfolios (benefits, payroll, occupational health etc etc), and bring deep expertise and insights across the value chain and supply base to translate the business requirements into effective future-fit procurement strategies

  • Connect strategy & execution aligned to Unilever Compass, Global Divisions, Functions & Markets goals and priorities, aligned with Procurement with Purpose and OneMBS strategies and principles

  • Deliver transformational sourcing strategies, operating models, and supplier relationships to redefine our procurement approach to drive 4G growth in accordance with our plans, including a focus on Sustainability and Responsible Sourcing strategies

  • Deliver against financial targets and other KPIs (including value delivery) as per business plan objectives, accountable for delivery of results from all markets, PMUs, Divisions and functions globally

  • Lead Supplier relationships and implement Partners with Purpose strategy, balancing a portfolio of global and local suppliers

  • Inspire, develop, and support our people, deliver results, and create and promote a healthy business culture

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders in EUrope and Globally, to support business, market, MBS and Procurement priorities and enable rapid alignment and deployment with key Business Services stakeholders of the procurement strategy and execution

  • Lead rigorous execution of the priorities and transformation initiatives

  • Ensure Portfolio fundamentals (i.e. data consistency, data insights, recurring stakeholder communications, contracts, etc.) are all put in place

  • Future proof the portfolio by driving digital approaches, while building technology enablers to help manage selected portfolio and scope

  • Lead internal performance management and reporting including creation and stewardship of relevant key performance indicators

  • This role will also be the SPOC for Brazil business services escalations

Experience Required:

  • 8+ years of procurement experience, including proven and deep experience in Business services portfolio’s (HR, Workforce, among others) or related field or indirect procurement portfolios

  • Strategic sourcing, portfolio strategy expertise, with experience in managing complex portfolio/category, at global or multi-regional level

  • Expert in negotiation and contracting preferred

  • Understanding of supply market, value chain, and FMCG knowledge. Knowledge of HR,Workforce and other business services portfolios is a strong plus.

  • Experience in strategic supplier relationship management

  • Experience on large-scale project management

  • Demonstrated and proven leadership capabilities to lead a diverse team
