Job Description

Do you want to be part of a “startup” and at the same time create new capabilities for HUL? Are you interested in building a new and exciting beauty business which is digital & ecommerce first? Do you want to build skills and capabilities which will be relevant in the ever-changing world?

We are building a team that aims at harnessing the huge potential in BPC which the new digital ecosystem has presented – and create a digital-first, future-fit portfolio of niche brands and benefit segments for HUL. Along the way, you’ll learn a ton & have fun.

We are looking to hire an Assistant Marketing in Mumbai HO for Premium Beauty Business Unit

Over the past few years, we have been on the journey to ‘Reimagine HUL’– re-engineer our organization in the context of the fast-transforming world. Reimagine HUL is an end-to-end organisation transformation program that anchors the ‘consumers’ and ‘customers’ at the front end while focusing on ‘agile operations’ on the back end. The objective of the program is to ensure we are creating distinct capabilities and a frictionless solution that delivers superior service and experience.

As a part of this transformation, HUL is setting up a Premium Beauty Business Unit in the Beauty & Personal Care (BPC) space. This business unit will strengthen our play in the fast growing and highly fragmented “Mass-tige” beauty segment in India.

Four years ago, we created empowered cross-functional business teams which unlocked speed and responsiveness to the market. However, over the years our portfolios have become larger and more complex - especially in Skin & Hair categories, where the fragmentation is much higher. With the e-commerce channel exploding, we now have an alternative business model which helps us win with affluent consumers and in niche opportunity spaces.

The Premium Beauty Business Unit will be dedicated to niche brands playing in ‘Masstige’ Beauty segment and lead our entry into niche premium formats like serums, sheet masks, hair masks etc through existing and new brands. The purpose of this team would be to accelerate the growth of emerging brands to a scalable size and launch new brands to capture growth opportunities. It will be a fully empowered independent business unit with accountability of its P&L, a dedicated marketing team and shared cross functional team members working closely with E-commerce sales team. It will operate like a start-up within the HUL ecosystem with agile processes and a strong focus on e-commerce and the digital ecosystem.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for dynamic, entrepreneurial & enthusiastic colleagues who have key skills to take on this challenge head-on:

  • Prior marketing, Ecommerce or digital experience

  • Ability to lead & be a part of inter-disciplinary teams

  • Analytical bent of mind - Ability to handle big data & track metrics

  • A good sense of aesthetics as well as copy writing/ creativity

  • Prior experience of working on innovations for ecommerce/affluent consumers

What you can expect to do & learn?

You will be creating creative solutions to ambiguous challenges. Learning and un-learning very quickly. You will also:

  • Understand the ecosystem and adapt the innovations to go to market environment

  • Adapt the visual imagery to the content and creative needs of the customer platforms

  • Create awareness & drive performance of campaigns

  • Work with Global teams & development teams to land strong innovation in market

  • Take responsibility for the achievement of business goals & competitive performance

  • Produce engaging content that recruits target customers

  • Scan the market, spot the trends, understand consumer Insights for affluent beauty consumers - Create products & offerings to suit them (Supported by R&D & Supply chain teams)
