We are looking for outstanding talent to join our factory team located in Raeford, NC, to lead the Safety, Health and Environmental agenda for the site, working with a great team, with the mission “One Team, Endless Possibilities”. Lead the thinking, building and delivery of the SHE strategy, culture and compliance for the site. In this role you will oversee the development, implementation, and management of the site’s Safety, Health and Environmental systems. You will support the plant operations by educating employees and administering safety, health, and environmental systems. You will be the driver of our safety culture in which one accident is one too many! Reports to the Factory Director and is an integral part of the factory leadership team.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

  • Deploy the global/clusterSHEstrategy, policiesand standardsatthe site to achieve excellent sustainable results

  • Monitor site legal compliance and ensure the site meets all local/national regulatory requirements and Provide advice on nationalSHElegislation requirements & implement relevant procedures and policies

  • Advise,assistand train/ developthe site’s management, production leaders and employees on Safety, Health and Environmental related issues

  • Develop and maintain accurate statistics and reports on work related injuries, at risk behaviors, hazards and losses in order to identify trends that require corrective actions

  • Co-leadthe investigation of accidents and incidents that occur at the site to determine root causes andrecommendscorrective action to prevent reoccurrence

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever Behavior Based Safety (BBS) Program and support deploymentinthe site

  • Respond to fires, inclement weather,and other emergency situations

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever Process Safety Management (PSM) Program and support deploymentinthe site

  • Influence senior management and drive safety and environmental leadership through line management

  • Work closely with Occupational Health personnel to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational ill health

  • Assist the site leader to develop and lead the internal crisis committees and safety committee. Support the site leader in leading serious incident investigation and analysis

  • Determine training needs and assist in delivery of training programs

  • Develop a strong strategy and SHE program to drive culture and accountability that will reduce/ eliminate safety, health and environmental issues at the site

  • Lead theSHEPillar in accordance with Manufacturing Excellence.

More than that, you are a key informal leader for everyone in the factory, instillingthe safetyand environmental culture and accountability in everyone.You provide overall technical leadership for safety assessments, risk assessments, management of change, SHE compliance, SHE regulations,waysof working.You havestrongpassion forSHE excellence and people development todriveteam’sperformance. You strategically influence peers and stakeholders to drive theSHEagenda throughrobustsolutions.

You’re a dot connector:Youare the bridge between the global/ cluster SHE teams and the factory team, to drive safety systems, performance and culture at the site. You will bring the teams together, drive accountability in all factory functions and train/ support them to all be safety, health and environmental champions. 

You’re a change maker:Youbuild a robust strategy plan for SHE anddevelop team members,so everyone sees safety as a value instead of a priority, and it is the most important factor in everyone’s daily work.You will make a shift from compliance to culture. 

You’re a culture and change champion:You provide and stimulate creative solutions todrive our safety, health and environmental culture at the site, going beyond complianceand defined processes. You look outside the box to understand human behaviors and what drives them, tomake safety the core of everyone’s values.You help unlock value and execution with the team by leveragingteam members across the site and at partnering functions.

What You’ll NeedtoSucceed

Essential

  • B.S. or B.E. degree inScience orEngineeringor equivalenteducation with demonstrated working experience

  • 5+ years’ experience inrelatedSafety, Health and Environmentalarea

  • 3+ years’ experience in a people management role

  • Professionalsafety and environmental skills

  • SOLs:Personal Mastery,Agility, Talent Catalyst, Passion for High Performance, Consumer Love

  • Skills:Leadership, Communication, Persuasion, Analytical/ Systems Thinking

Desired

  • Firsthand experience/ track record of deliveringand managingsafety and environmental programswithin Unilever or similar FMCG environment

  • Advanced degreein Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Sustainability

  • FMCG experience strongly preferred

  • Creative and energeticattitude
