We are looking to hire a Product Development Managerin Hair category based in Mumbai:

Technical Project Leadership (TPL)

  • Partner with business and GDC to define and deliver all technical aspects of the projects (including formulation, fragrance, packaging, processing, consumer testing, product costs, legal, regulatory & safety, etc)

  • Lead other R&D functions (packaging, CTI, fragrance, processing teams) to ensure delivery on assigned projects.

  • Build a close working partnership with the global technical project leaders (GTPL) and ensure alignment of product technologies to the brand DNA, philosophy and brand performance standards.

  • Be a strong business partner as part of a cross-functional team. An awareness and understanding of the impact and contribution of functions (SC, SM, Marketing, etc) is essential.

  • Maintain a sense of realism, purpose and urgency within the technical teams and rest of the category through active risk management.

Product Development LeadInnovation & Market Development

  • Partner with GDC to deploy innovations & renovations for South Asia OTIF (on-time in-full)

  • Lead product development and scale-up activities of all hair product formats (shampoo, conditioner, oil, styling preparations) & ensure robust technology transfer to factories

  • Single point of contact for countries in SA for business support of assigned brands

  • Provide 360 degree technical support for market development model for each of the brands including activations & promotions

  • Provide formulation inputs for developing claims & demo tool kits for respective brands

  • Ensure that local insights and legislative requirements are fed into global innovations

Material – Savings & Simplification

  • Deployment of global material and product saving projects

  • Approval & development of local supplier base for global specifications

  • Partner with GDC to identify & deploy region specific margin improvement opportunities

Delivered Quality & Consumer Complaints

  • Partner with Supply Chain & Quality teams on technical matters for quality improvement, & delivery of quality metric targets in the region

  • Leading role in managing quality complaints and implementation of corrective & preventive action plans

  • Responsible for technical inputinto local care line operation

Competition & Others

  • Lead competition monitoring program for category, ensuring GDC & brand teams are fully briefed at all times

  • Generate insights based on CPA data which can provide business advantage

Line Management

  • Contribute to building a strong formulation team by developing exceptional talents.

  • Set stretching targets and ensure appropriate coaching and mentoring is in place to support direct reports.

  • Motivate team in highly challenging circumstances.

  • Ensure all HR processes (e.g. PDP, succession planning, training etc) are established and maintained to the highest standard

              EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Minimum Qualification - Post Graduate in Chemistry or B. Tech (Chemical Engineering)

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in Personal Care R&D, preferably hair

  • 2-3 years managerial experience

  • Strong communication, experience of working in matrix system, ability to lead cross functional teams, stakeholder management and line management are necessary skills for this job.
