The Consumer Technical Insights and Innovation team focuses on supporting projects from design to implementation of innovations and renovations in the countries. Exploring the best match of technical product aspects with consumer needs, and the product promises we can make to our consumers. HC products rely heavily on functional but also emotional and sensory claims and CTI is an essential part of substantiating these claims and delivering new products to consumers.
In this role, your focus will be on local and regional consumer insights, product performance, claims competitors and local implementation of projects. You will be working on product activations across different channels (eg. traditional trade, e-commerce); creating the link between technical product development, consumers and customers. You will support relevant functions with your technical expertise in order to provide high quality support.
The EE Consumer Technical Insights and Cluster Design R&D Assistant works with x-functional business partners to ensure full R&D support of regional/local activities and the successful implementation of all projects, including innovations and renovations into the markets. Working in a multi-disciplinary business environment, providing a critical link between R&D, Legal, Regulatory and Brand teams in the European Cluster, ensuring the delivery of high quality consumer and competitor insights to the business.
To set and coordinate the programme of tests with the relevant internal project teams and external partners (research agencies & suppliers).
To identify and determine right methodologies for achieving the objective (qualitative / quantitative / sensory/ appraisal) by consulting widely including both internal and external sources and by own practical work.
To prepare technical claim substantiation dossiers and ensure the right local support for different communication channels (eg. TV adverts approval).
To understand competitors and the competitive environment to be able to identify relevant insights and possibilities of claims or challenges.
To extract insights from multiple sources of information and identify the opportunities for the business at Regional and Local level to the relevant internal partners.
To ensure the smooth delivery of project support and to provide expert advice on claims and communication strategies while providing input into risk assessments when required.
To influence and educate our customers, consumers and business partners on our products and technologies. Translate technical product benefits and technologies into consumer language and product demonstration. Present them in an engaging way to influence customer and consumer purchasing decisions. Development and execution of customer, consumer, PR oriented technical communication as required. All channels : e-commerce
To ensure compliance of products according to mandatory Unilever policies & relevant legislation.
To liaise with global and regional and local colleagues in various functions (CTI, CMI, Legal, Regulatory, TPLs, Quality Assurance) as well as (research agencies) to ensure the smooth delivery of project support and to provide expert advice on claims and communication strategies while providing input into risk assessments when require
Excellent spoken and written English

IT skills using standard office software packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in Science(Food, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Behaviour or Cognitive Psychology or Social Science)
Proven work experience in a technical role, ideally R&D.
Preferably experience in the Home or Personal Care industry or FMCG
Willingness to travel within Europe if needed
Ideal but not essential:
Good level of skills in the use of appraisal techniques, sensory evaluation and consumer testing.
