Background & Purpose of the Job
To meet the skills and capabilities needs for the “Future of Work” , people development is essential for a manufacturing location. The Continuous Improvement/Technical Skills Trainer is instrumental in creating this evolution. He/She is a member of the site Human Resource Team. He/She is also a key resource to the Continuous Improvement function. The Continuous Improvement/Technical Skills Trainer is the face of skill and knowledge development for all levels of factory employees.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
The Continuous Improvement/Technical Skills Trainer leads all technical training interventions for the Hammond manufacturing facility and is experienced in operational, mechanical, and electrical concept application in/for a manufacturing environment. The Continuous Improvement/Technical Skills Trainer possesses an excellent ability to Teach, Coach and Mentor. The Continuous Improvement/Technical Skills Trainer will create, coordinate and deliver, as needed, course and field training for all level employees at the Hammond, Indiana manufacturing facility. He/She will liaise with other internal and external training providers, and agencies where it is advantageous to use their capabilities. The technical skill strainer will co-lead the continuous improvement People Development Pillar and the Hammond Joint Leadership Team Training Subcommittee. The Continuous Improvement/Technical Skills Trainer is responsible for the proper maintenance and safe running of on-site training facilities, equipment and materials. The Continuous Improvement/Technical Skills Trainer will manage training records and track/report training key performance indicators.
You’re a born leader: You lead the factory designated trainers, lead training curriculum development for skilled trades trainers, create training content with department and Front Line Managers and facilitate factory training, learnings forums, and committees to deliver actions that drive the site goals.
You’re a strategy guru: You identify the developmental needs of the factory based on the factory goals and create effective solutions that grow individual capabilities and eliminate factory human error losses.
You’re a dot connector: You tie all resources together including employees from all functions in the facility, in the organization, as well as, agencies, local universities/colleges and government entities with your innovative approach to learning, training, skills development and total program management.
You’re a culture & change champion: You empower the team through growing their knowledge and applying it to eliminate cost and waste from the business with an owner’s mindset. You build relationships that foster a We Can Do It confidence in all employees. You build strong employee relations through management o the employee recognition and suggestion program.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
Technical – Able to Teach, Coach and Mentor: An inspirational teaching approach is a requirement for the role. Technical aptitude/exposure is needed to understand manufacturing operations and support knowledge transfer. A safety (OSHE) mindset is a non-negotiable attribute of the Continuous Improvement/Technical Skills Trainer. An appreciation for our products and a quality focus are essential. Technical competence coupled with leadership qualities/skills such as communication, integrity, and commitment are important. Problem solving via continuous improvement methodologies and project management are required. Personal learning agility and flexibility to meet ever evolving business demands and learning industry advances in digital solutions are a must have.1-2 years manufacturing experience is required. A Bachelor degree in Human Resources or a technical field or comparable/relevant work experience is required. Proficiency in MSOffice software, digital photography, writing skills, and other training solutions using digital applications are required.
