We have over 6,000 R&D employees designing, creating and developing exciting new products using innovative technologies - from scientists and product development experts to professionals such as hairdressers and chefs who have the skills to evaluate new products. The global Foods & Refreshment (F&R) R&D Digital & Data capability is the central team in F&R R&D to enable and lead the digital transformation of our organisation. Our core expertise area and responsibility are to provide the systems expertise and user solutions to drive data quality in our core ingredient and product specifications. Increasingly, we are also strengthening our capability in data engineering, visualisation, reporting and data science to extract the maximum value from the data we have, and use data to support F&R’s in-silico design agenda. The capability teams are working closely together with many other teams across F&R R&D, ranging from the regional design teams on product specs to the Global Design and background Research on data science and modelling.
The F&R Digital Data team has reorganised and created a new Insights & Reporting pillar with the aim to provide the robust data that can power key decisions. We are looking for someone with a passion for getting and communicating information from data to strengthen our team. The job holder will be part of a global team located in multiple locations.
The key features of this role are to monitor the quality of data we have in the digital systems and use that data to create user friendly solutions (e.g. reports, dashboards, tools, apps, gadgets). These solutions will need to be maintained and evolve over time or will be one-off bespoke solutions for targeted queries from various business partners.
In this role you will liaise with business partners in many Unilever functions to build the requirements for the front-end part, collect the data and build the data model, and present the results to them and to wider audiences at meetings, etc.
The job holder will also be responsible for the information supplied to the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan reports, these include GANESH (nutrition), Greenhouse Gas and Plastics reports. This will involve taking an active part in discussion to answer queries from external auditors on the data and processes used to generate them.
Collection of data from multiple sources including SAP PLM, existing Power BI datasets, and individual datasets provided by business partners.
Validating underlying data used by the division in the core data sources, and any bespoke datasets used in our reports.
Creation of solutions and dashboards to meet various business needs.
Liaising with the System Expertise & User Solutions data squads to update data in the core systems such that F&R data is complete with a clear aim that reporting becomes a routine process.
ALL ABOUT YOU
- Solid experience in data visualisation, design, development and implementation of front-end parts (e.g. dashboards and web frontends)
- Applied experience in Visual Analytics Platforms like Microsoft Power BI
- Strong knowledge in designing efficient, robust and automated data pipelines and ETL workflows
- Excellent knowledge in programming, preferable of several programming languages e.g. SQL, Python, R
- Using SAP PLM and associated data portals to extract data
- SAP PLM – understands data standards in building hierarchies and specification contents.
- Education: Degree in computer or data science
- Preferred experience in foods science and businesses
- Previous experience of working in data analytics role
- Fluent in English
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, especially contributing to global and multi-functional teams
- Agile working practices across multiple priorities and locations
- Good Communication across multiple business partners
