Business Context and Main Purpose of the Role

Unilever has set a clear Purposeful Growth Agenda, carving out 5 Growth Fundamentals, to emerge as Purpose-Led and Future-it Organization.  Key to this is the underpinning UniOps initiative around Growth, Fuel for Growth and Resilience. To achieve this, SAP AG has been chosen as the Enterprise Application provider and Microsoft Azure as the Cloud provider.

STS will drive the development and delivery of the required Technical capabilities to enable success in this endeavour –partnering with key strategic cloud vendors, pushing the boundaries of what is possible to ensure cost effective, reliable & performant hosting capabilities.

The SAP Technical Solution Delivery – Assistant Manager will be responsible for the delivery of the business platform change initiatives in the SAP arena, as well as drive the delivery of key strategic programmes like Accelerated Cloud Migration and any other capabilities supporting UniOps Digital Core ambitions. He / she will be responsible for Governance and controls necessary to deliver these to time, cost and quality.

Main Accountabilities

Platform Engagement :

  • Devise and formulate periodic engagement with identified platforms to gather and understand SAP related Business demands.

  • Ensure effective relationships are built and maintained with the Platforms to establish SPOC model for any demand and translate the business demand into appropriate technical requirement.

  • Establish periodic connects, to keep the stakeholders abreast on the status of the projects and highlight Risks / Mitigations, if any.

Project & Programme Management :

  • Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project. Take responsibility for the definition, documentation and safe execution of projects, actively participating in all phases of the project.

  • Ensures that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and track all activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders, as appropriate.

  • Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensures that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria.

  • Initiates and influences relationships with and between key stakeholders, in business change design, management and implementation, acting as a primary point of contact for senior stakeholders and influencers.

  • Manages the change control procedure and ensures that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off. Gains agreement for revisions to the project(s) from project sponsors.

  • Identifies mechanisms by which benefits can be delivered and measured, and plans to activate these mechanisms at the required time. Recognises issues that may help or hinder the change and works with others to tackle them.

  • Determines the readiness levels of business users with regard to upcoming changes; uncovers readiness gaps and creates and implements action plans to close the gaps prior to go-live.

Infrastructure & Cloud Expertise

  • Understanding of SAP Infrastructure components and Architecture.

  • Cloud based knowledge to deliver large complex projects on Cloud.(Azure)

  • Convert the business case into technical  requirements to define scope and delivery plan.

  • Implement Optimized and fast tack mechanism to achieve faster deployments to achieve “Time to Market” strategy

  • Understanding on Cloud budgeting and best fit pay option to deliver cost optimized projects to business.

People Management

  • Work with Internal and External stakeholders / Technical teams /  Vendor partners collaboratively, and delivers the project efficiently as per agreed timelines.

Relevant Experience

  • Essential (3-5 years):

  • Executed projects in Global Multi-country environment and large global user base.

  • Experience of delivering projects in a complex technical environment with global systems.

  • Skills such as business case preparation, project definition, planning, risk management, project change control, configuration management, financial management and staff selection for managing projects.

  • Principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation, through to implementation.
    Example: PRINCE2 / PMI

  • Excellent stakeholder Management experience

  • Service Management

  • Broad understanding of SAP Basis in Global Environment

  • Understanding of Cloud Infrastructure

  • Broad knowledge of Global SAP infrastructure (incl. storage, network, servers, tooling, capacity management & planning)

  • Broad knowledge of SAP Landscape management (System refreshes and release cycles)

  • System migrations, EHP upgrades, AIX patching & Db2 upgrades

  • Applying quality standards to all tasks undertaken and ensuring that nothing is overlooked.

  • Methods and techniques for reporting progress and financial compliance against an agreed plan.

  • Methods and techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects.
    Examples: product/work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, earned value, resource analysis, conflict resolution.

  • Methods, techniques and tools for the analysis, assessment and management of risk.

  • Methods, techniques associated with Global change control

Desirable:

  • Educated to degree level or holds a professional qualification.

  • ITIL Foundation.

  • Clarity Workbench experience

  • Service Now Change Management & CMDB
