Background

Unilever is driving transformation leveraging Digital technologies across business units, functions, and IT platforms. Intelligent Automation plays a pivotal role across digital transformation journeys.

Automation Factory is a Centre of Excellence in UniOps that drives Intelligent Automation across Unilever through cutting edge technologies like Machine Learning, Computer Vision and Robotics Process Automation.

In the four years since it was set up, Automation Factory has already scaled to 3.4 Million hours of automation and brought about a paradigm shift in Unilever to truly embrace an Automation mindset & culture

Purpose of the role

As a lead manager:

  • You will be part of the AF LT, and help define the automation strategy for the short, medium, and long term for Unilever

  • You will be responsible for partnering UniOps LT to align and drive the strategy on a continuous basis

  • Partner the Business units/groups heads, in co-creating and delivering the automation strategy and delivering world class end user experience using Intelligent Automation.

  • You will leverage leadership, process-driven, analytical, technical and value management skills to manage a team that builds and maintains Intelligent Automation platforms, delivers new innovative solutions.

  • Bring in outside in engagement focus, and build strategic partnership with multiple SIs who are leading innovation players in the industry, with start-ups ecosystem and our key cloud infra providers to understand capabilities and deliver solutions to business problems

  • Creating a future fit organization – with the right skillsets to meet the current and future technology needs.

Scope of the Role

The role covers the following areas –

  • Partnering with Business Unit/Groups and UniOps VPs and Directors

  • Internal Technology Platform responsibilities –

    • Platform expansion and maintenance

    • Sets platform direction, builds consensus, mediate conflicts, and helps to create an environment which solicits positive contributions from all participants

    • Collaborate with product vendors to find solution to critical problems and liaise on product enhancements

  • Stakeholder Management:

    • External Stakeholders: Bring in Out-Side in and In-side out view of of emerging technologies in the digital space

    • Internal Stakeholders: Collaborates with key stakeholders in executing the platform responsibilities, to develop clear architecture plans, driving towards the appropriate balance of cost, risk and quality, and effectively and consistently communicates this to stakeholders.

  • Defining agile & future-ready delivery models, SI and Product partnerships, Architecture, Solutions, and Processes to help unlock the innovation needed for the transformation.

  • Strong business facilitation skills and acumen needed to help business leaders and program managers understand how to apply complex IT/Architecture concepts to solve problems.

  • Create and execute a technology and maturity road map for AF-Platform to meet organizational targets

Talent Management:

  • Effectively lead the members of the Automation Factory (including third party support) Platform and Cognitive Services

  • Creating a High Performing team, enabling digital culture and mindset within teams, building talent, and ensuring retention of knowledge management and skills enhancement

  • Responsible for all resources within the respective group, their optimal utilization and professional development.

Key Deliverables:

  • Enable setup & delivery of the technology framework, capabilities and skill sets required for the Employee Twin & No-Touch Automation Programs

  • Enable a governance framework, and share regular program updates with Cluster leadership

  • Strengthen partnership with product partners to drive co-innovation & product roadmap and help build a solid foundation to enable accelerated innovation, evaluate emerging technology, delivering the Automation 2022 Strategy through key program deliveries

  • Enhance branding of AF’s capabilities, value proposition, success stories to Unilever in various forums & formats. Enhance Botstore as a one-stop shop

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Essential Skills

  • Proven and excellent track record of managing and scaling large & complex transformation programs consistently

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build strong & trustworthy relationships with senior stakeholders

  • Excellent facilitation skills working with both internal and external parties

  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, as well as able to work through others to solve problems both inside and “outside” the box

  • Excellent team leadership and people skills: direction with empowerment, agility, and a non-hierarchical approach

  • Ability to build and inspire high-performing teams.

  • Proactiveness, strong growth mindset, continuously looking for opportunities.

Qualification

  • Post-graduation in Management is must

  • Adept with leading solutions in the space of intelligent automation

  • Rich experience in driving automation solutions while working with both senior management as well as operations managers
