The Green Engineer is a member of the site engineering team which is responsible for technical and process site engineering projects, with a special focus on the plant at Unilever’s Casalpusterlengo factory. The Green Engineer role is critical to the development of our factory in line with current needs of energy and environmental management activities and in line with the World Class Manufacturing principles, which mean zero defects, zero waste and zero losses.

Job Description

The Green Engineer collaborates with the operations and safety teams, focusing oninnovative solutions to environmental issues. Their primary duties include collecting and analyzing environmental and energy data, studying human influences on the environment, and improving environmental conservation management with a special focus on energy management.

Here is a breakdown of what you’ll be doing:

  • Conduct assessments of building system performance, analyse utility data, and develop and help to execute energy efficiency retrofit solutions to achieve the optimal balance of reduced utility consumption and financial results.

  • serve as the lead on energy and mechanical matters to project implementation teams, reviewing specifications, drawings, construction documents, project scopes, and cost estimates, and assist in the day-to-day project management

  • Track metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades;

  • Support the Implementation of the KPI(s), collect and analyze processing performance data for innovation projects;

  • Work closely with area leader and operators

  • Collaborate with the Safety and Quality departments for compliance with the Standards;

  • Support the implementation of digital innovations and projects.

The type of person we are looking for:

  • At least 2 years of previous experience in a similar role focused on energy and environment management

  • Engineering Master’s Degree. Preferably in Environmental,  Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineer

  • Extremely well-organized, precise and able to multi-task with excellent prioritizing and time-management skills;

  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to act as a team player;

  • English proficiency and Italian mother tongue;

  • Fast learner, open minded and growth mindset;

  • Having a “Can Do” attitude and result oriented;

  • Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills and attention to details, data driven (uses data to support recommendation);
