About the Role:

We're seeking a passionate and dynamic Community Lead to cultivate and manage our brand's presence across diverse online communities. This role is crucial for building brand relevance, fostering authentic engagement, and driving organic growth within various interest spaces. You will be the voice of our brand within these communities, understanding their nuances and creating meaningful interactions that resonate with our target audience. This role requires a deep understanding of community dynamics, content creation, and social media best practices, coupled with a genuine love for the beauty industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Community Identification & Strategy: Identify relevant online communities (e.g., Reddit, Facebook groups, Discord servers, forums, etc.) where our target audience engages and develop tailored strategies for each.
  • Community Engagement & Management: Actively participate in identified communities, initiating conversations, responding to comments, sharing valuable content, and building relationships with community members. Moderate community spaces where applicable, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Content Creation & Curation: Develop and curate engaging and relevant content (text, images, videos) that aligns with the specific interests of each community and reinforces our brand message. This includes adapting existing brand content and creating original content specifically for community platforms.
  • Community Growth & Advocacy: Implement strategies to organically grow our presence within target communities and encourage community members to become brand advocates.
  • Listening & Monitoring: Actively listen to conversations within the communities, monitor brand mentions, and identify emerging trends and sentiment. Provide regular reports and insights to the marketing team.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate closely with the marketing, social media, and product development teams to ensure consistent brand messaging and alignment with overall marketing strategies. Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders about community activity and insights.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Track key metrics (e.g., engagement rate, reach, sentiment) to measure the effectiveness of community initiatives and provide regular reports on performance. Use data to refine strategies and optimize community engagement.
  • Staying Up-to-Date: Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in social media, community management, and the beauty industry. Continuously explore new platforms and strategies to expand our reach and engagement.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Passionate about Beauty: A genuine passion for the beauty industry and a strong understanding of current trends, products, and influencers.
  • Community Expert: Proven experience in managing and engaging online communities, with a deep understanding of community dynamics and best practices.
  • Excellent Communicator: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences and platforms.
  • Creative Content Creator: Ability to develop and curate engaging and relevant content that resonates with specific community interests.
  • Social Media Savvy: Strong understanding of various social media platforms and community forums, including their unique features and best practices.
  • Data-Driven: Ability to track and analyze key metrics to measure the effectiveness of community initiatives and make data-driven decisions.
  • Collaborative & Team-Oriented: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Organized & Detail-Oriented: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple communities and projects simultaneously.
  • Problem-Solver: Proactive and resourceful, with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Positive Attitude: A positive and enthusiastic attitude with a genuine desire to connect with and engage with online communities.

Experiences & Qualifications:

  • ​​Community Management Experience: Proven experience directly managing online communities, ideally for brands or in the beauty industry. This could include: 
  • ​Growing and engaging social media audiences 
  • ​Creating and executing community engagement strategies 
  • ​Moderating online discussions and managing conflicts 
  • ​Tracking and analysing community metrics 
  • ​Content Creation Experience - Copywriting: Demonstrating the ability to create engaging written content for social media, or other online platforms. 
  • ​Customer Service Experience: Experience interacting with customers, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues in a professional and empathetic manner. 

​Additional Desirable Experience:

  • ​Experience with Beauty Brands: Working directly with beauty brands, retailers, or agencies is a significant advantage. 
  • ​Knowledge of Beauty Industry Trends: Demonstrated understanding of current beauty trends, products, and consumer behaviour. 
  • Experience with specific community management tools i.e TRAACKR
  • Familiarity with influencer marketing within the beauty industry.
  • Experience in customer service or community support.

​​Core community Engagement & Management:

  • ​Online Community Building: Demonstrated ability to cultivate a positive, engaged online community around a brand. This includes understanding platform dynamics and fostering authentic interactions. 
  • ​Social Media Expertise: In-depth knowledge of relevant platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.), including best practices, content formats, and audience nuances. 
  • ​Community Moderation: Skilfully moderating discussions, addressing conflicts, and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment. This requires strong judgment and sensitivity to diverse perspectives. 
  • ​Relationship Building: Building and nurturing relationships with community members, influencers, and internal stakeholders. Excellent communication (written & verbal) and active listening are crucial. 
  • ​Community Insights & Analysis: Analysing community data, identifying trends, and extracting actionable insights to inform brand strategy and content. 
  • ​Proactive Engagement: Taking initiative to spark conversations, run interactive activities (polls, Q&As, contests), and foster a sense of community beyond simply reacting to comments. This was mentioned in your "proactive community engagement" point. 

​Beauty Industry Expertise:

  • ​Passion for Beauty: A demonstrable passion for the beauty landscape, its products, keeping up with trends, innovations, and key players, reflecting a genuine enthusiasm for the field. 
  • ​Beauty Product Knowledge: Strong understanding of beauty products, trends, ingredients, and industry terminology across makeup, skincare, haircare, etc. 
  • ​Trend Awareness: Staying ahead of beauty trends, new product launches, viral challenges, and influencer activity to keep the community engaged and relevant. 
  • ​Community Sensitivity: Understanding the importance of inclusivity in beauty, representing diverse skin tones/hair types, and navigating sensitive topics (e.g., cultural appropriation) with care. 
  • ​Competitive Awareness: Keeping up with competitor activity and best practices in the beauty space to identify opportunities and stay ahead of the curve. 

​Content & Communication:

  • ​Copywriting & Tone of Voice: Excellent written communication skills, adapting brand voice and tone for different platforms and audiences. 
  • ​Content Creation (preferred): Experience creating engaging social media content (text, images, videos) tailored to beauty audiences. 
  • ​Storytelling (preferred): Crafting compelling narratives that resonate with the target audience and foster community engagement.

​Customer Service & Brand Advocacy:

  • ​Empathy & Responsiveness: Responding to customer inquiries and concerns with empathy, understanding, and professionalism. This includes addressing product questions and handling feedback (positive and negative). 
  • ​Conflict Resolution (preferred): Experience handling difficult conversations and resolving customer issues effectively, de-escalating situations, and finding mutually agreeable solutions. 
  • ​Brand Advocacy (preferred): Genuine passion for the brand and the ability to authentically represent and advocate for it within the online community. This includes promoting positive brand sentiment and addressing concerns constructively.
