Is this position made for you?

You will be responsible for governance of the Unilever Quality Management across Unilever Sri Lanka business – end to end, staring with material supplier and ending with consumers. You will be operating from Unilever Sri Lanka supply chain across all entities of the business and providing leadership in quality assurance to ensure complete consumer delight.

This role is directly reporting to regional head of quality and indirect reporting to Unilever Sri Lanka supply chain director.


How would you create a better world?

  • Develop and plan Quality Assurance plan in line with the company business plan and global quality objectives.

  • Develop and implement Quality Improvement Plan for the company in line with CIA and global quality initiatives

  • Responsible for proposing policies related to quality which includes quality and consumer safety and legal aspects.

  • Development and implementation of systems, procedures and processes to manage product and process quality and minimize the cost of quality failures.

  • Responsible for driving Unilever corporate quality policy across all own and third party sites and relevant trade entities.

  • Responsible to drive the quality as a fundamental requirement for all categories in the factory to fuel business growth by improving the level of “delivered quality” in marketplace.

  • Receive feedback from consumer care center related to imported products and products under Go-to Market scope and formulate action plans for improvement. For locally manufactured products complaints, communicate with relevant sites on complaint investigations and improvement plans.

  • Actively involve in the innovation process to ensure quality is delivered by design.

  • Verify the business organization conformance to Unilever Global Quality Management requirements, category and regional requirements through planned audit programmed and build adequate confidence to meet requirements of “license to operate”.

  • Develop and implement procedures for selection and improvement, quality improvement point (QIP) of co-packer (VAS) / supplier / other business partners in line with Unilever supplier and co-packer management requirements

  • Provide support and guidance for the manufacturing sites on Internal and external audits and assessments.

  • Responsible for cascading down and implementing global and regional Quality Assurance initiatives in the local unit

  • Responsible for reporting on regional benchmarking and key performance indicators (KPI) update to the region, and share regional quality assurance initiatives and experiences with the local unit community and follow up on implementation.

  • Actively participate in initiatives of quality governing council.

  • Carry out quality benchmarking with competitor products and provide necessary inputs for quality improvement plans.

  • Direct engagement in business partner Quality Management system implementation and evaluation with external audit agencies.

  • Engage with stakeholders from the sales department in driving the business partner quality improvement.

  • Governance of the Retail Consumer Related Quality Standards (CRQS) Audit of Sri Lanka. Work with the sales department on relevant trade related improvements and engaging with the relevant manufacturing units to develop improvement plans.

  • Drive focus improvement projects in improving trade quality in different entities such as modern trade –Wholesaler Development programs etc.

  • Drive the E-Commerce quality improvement agenda across the Unilever Sri Lanka. Relevant product related improvements to be done with the development teams and service level improvements to be done on Unilever own E-Commerce operations and external E-Commerce operations.

  • Drive quality improvement action plans and quality talent improvement programs across general trade, modern trade and E-Commerce networks.

  • Governance of the warehouse and value-added services quality agenda with the relevant stakeholders. Evaluating the progress by driving the Goods, warehousing and transportation (GWT) assessment across the relevant entities in Unilever Sri Lanka.

  • Drive the quality agenda for the PureIt business, including service level improvements, Device improvement communications with the regional stakeholders and direct engagement in new product launches.

  • Governance of the Unilever quality agenda on the out of home business of Unilever Sri Lanka which engages both factory and trade related teams.

  • Drive the quality digitalization agenda across Unilever Sri Lanka with local and global initiatives.

  • Driving quality related savings projects and quality related business waste agenda.

  • Communications and regular updates for the supply chain leadership engagements, management committee engagements and local/regional and global score card updates.

What’s important for you to have in this position?

  • Be a graduate (BSc in Engineering/ Science) or have completed an equivalent professional qualification.

  • 8+ years of experience of working in Quality in similar capacity (experience on FMCG will be added advantage).

  • Sound knowledge in Quality Assurance, TPM approach and Sales and Marketing operations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication and leadership skills.
