Background & Purpose of the Job

The purpose of this job is to manage the engineering and maintenance areas in the factory,providing an optimal infrastructure andimprovingproduction facilities in terms of flexibility, capital input, operating costs and performance.The jobincludes the end to end delivery of the site capital plans in a safe and effective way, managing engineers and technicians at the site as well as delivery of projects of significant size or a portfolio of smaller projects, besides managing the maintenance teams and day-to-day maintenance systems and program, leading a team of electrical, mechanical, control and utilities supervisors/ technicians, maintenance planners and additional employees in the safe and efficient repair and maintenance of the facility, utilities and production equipment for the entire factory for all shifts. Leads/ co-lead the EEM and PM Pillars with full integration with the WCM plans on site. The position reports to the site director, with a dotted line to the Engineering directors.

You serve as the Early Equipment Managementand Professional Maintenancepillarsleader/ co-leaderfor the site.You lead the capital management process in the site, driving capital efficiency, sweating the assets andexecution excellence.You lead the maintenance systems and maintenance program at the site to drive performance improvement,improvement of assets lifetime, asset utilization and reliability.You have strong passion forTechnicalExcellenceand people development to drive team’s performance. You strategically influence peers and stakeholders to drive the business agenda through technical solutions. 

You’re a dot connector:Youwork closely with the site team to build a robust infrastructure and utilities master plan (non-product core) to drive change, sustain and improve performance and customer service at manufacturing.You put together a team of technicalmembers in different disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls and automation, project engineers, planners, utilities, etc.) to drive the site performanceby the delivery of improvements and capital projects based on the site masterplan.

You’re a change maker:You flawlessly executeprojects leading all engineering aspects of the working program working withsite, Procurement, suppliersand thetechnicalcommunity inan integrated, high performance work team.You drive capital efficiency by constantly looking at ways to improve coststo implement projects and looking at alternative technical solutions, besides working together with the site to sweat the assets, finding ways to extend the operating life of equipment, improving efficiencies, lowering environmental footprint and lowering operating costs.You drive the maintenance costs down by improving the condition and care of the assets and by finding alternative solutions for the maintenance program at the site.

What You’ll NeedtoSucceed


  • B.S. or B.E. degree in Engineeringor equivalenteducation with demonstrated working experience

  • 5 + yearsof professionalexperiencein technical and organizational management areasinFMCG/ related industry or gained in an engineering consultancy/ company environment(amount of experience needed depends on site size/ complexity)

  • Minimum of5years’ experience in a people,project managementor maintenance management role(amount of experience needed depends on site size/ complexity)Minimum3– 5 years manufacturing experience

  • Professional engineering skills

  • Project Management Leadership with strong Early Management expertise (EPM/ EEM)

  • Maintenance Systems and Maintenance Management expertise

  • Budgetmanagement skills

  • Understands and implements continuous improvement to drive performance for loss management

  • Skills:Leadership, Communication, Persuasion, Project Management, Analytical/ Systems Thinking


  • Firsthand experience/ track record of deliveringand managingmajorprojects(€ Multi Million)within Unilever or similar FMCG environment

  • Attained Professional Engineer Status (Or member of professional institution)

  • Project Management Institute Certification (PMP®by PMI)

  • Knowledge of facilities systems

  • Structured work and thinking

  • Self-motivating with high problem-solving focus
