TheMulti-Skilled 2Technician is a member of the cell that directs, coaches and leads other Technical Operators acrossallshifts.  Theirfocus is to lead their cell in continuous improvements activities around Budgeting,Preventative Maintenance, Focused Improvement and development of operators engagedto optimise the running and maintenance of equipment withinthe factory. She/he is also intimately involved with setting the PerformanceStrategy for the respective production area.  

She/he must be a mentally agile and advanced problem solver actively engaged in maintaining a safe work environment, which protects product quality and reduces waste and other environmental impact.  A positive contributor to the factory’s work environment and culture, the technician will act as a leading coach and mentor to the Technical Operators across all shifts in their cell.


  • Ability to manage theperformance of the Technical Operators and the production lines in the cell

  • Accountable for the productivity of thecellacross all shifts.  This requires contacting appropriate resources for issue resolution, providing alternative duties in the event of breakdown or material shortage, monitoring general performance and behavior of employees and adjusting crewing.  This requires interfacing with facilities support, material planning, quality support, warehouse and other departments to ensure efficient operation to meet plant goals.

  • Regularly cascading/communicating site targets and goals from Plant Leadership to shift crewsconsistently, accurately,and vice versa.

  • Managing the operational cost of assigned area including controlling overtime

  • Leading focused improvement project to improve the overall efficiencies of the area.

  • Primary responsibility for the selection, coaching and promotional opportunities of the teammates in your assigned area.

  • Responsible for continuous improvement and driving loss reduction.

  • Responsible for active participation through Pillar membership in a WCM Pillar

  • Fully capable to assist in managing of the budget responsibilities of the cell

  • Responsible to deliverperformance targets.  Directly contributes to improved safety, quality, sustainability and cost.


  • Technical - Knowledge and application of technical skills to Operate, Maintain, Improve and Repairequipment.  This allows production targets to be met safely, at the right level of quality and on time.

  • Decision Making - Identifies repeated problems with production and repeated causes of breakdowns and suggests how to solve these.  Actively contributes to mechanical and continuous improvements.  Makes decisions to minimize production loss (e.g. mechanical improvements to reduce waste).  Makes decisions to support effective team working (e.g. arranging cover and managing training).

  • WCM - Knowledge and understanding of the key principles of WCM and the impact this has on the Key Performance Indicators in the production area (PQSCDMI).  Proficient in all 7 WCM tools. Apply rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero loss concept to eliminate losses.

  • Leadership - Promote the development of a highly effective and autonomous team through strong communication, leading by example and effective problem solving and conflict management.  Maintains focus on goals and targets.  

  • Coaching – Champion specific skills within thesemi autonomousand autonomous team and coach them to others in order to drive excellence.

  • Business Awareness - Understanding of the need to meet changing demands and the role of marketing and product innovation in growing the business and increasing the company's share.

  • Project Management – Achieve the desired outcomes of the project in line with agreed plans using appropriate project management tools and techniques to ensure the efficient use of technical, financial and human resources.

  • Administration– Collaborate with colleagues to arrange shift and break cover, induct new employees and address performance shortfalls to ensure that team resources can meet operational requirements.

  • Skills – Strong computer, analytical, written and verbal communication skillsto lead and motivate a team towards a common goal.



  • Position requires 3 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing operation and a strong technical skill set.

  • Experience of working as part of an extended team within the manufacturing sector.

  • Strong coaching and communication skills.

  • Proven analytical skills.


  • Experience of manufacturing in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods Company and World Class Manufacturing.

  • Experience as a team member within a project Management team with an awareness of project management tools and techniques.
