Business title: Tax Assistant Manager

Main purpose of job:

The Global Tax function has launched the Future of Tax (FOT) transformation project under the Digital Finance umbrella. As part of the Future of Tax project, compliance work related to direct tax, indirect tax, withholding tax and transfer pricing which will be done by Business and Supplier Operations Team, under a new target Operating Model (TOM).  The new TOM will involve tax process to be performed across Global Tax team, Country Tax Team, UniOps and 3rd party consultant (Big 4s).

UniOps team’s vision is to build an externally benchmarked, world class Tax Data COE which delivers End to End high-quality, accurate financial information for effective decision making and meeting regulatory requirements.

What you can expect from the role?

• Support country teams in Europe in trouble shooting of Tax related issues in SAP (10% of the time)

• Working with SAP IT team in getting the issues resolved in SAP (Creating BRD, UAT, Co-ordination)

• Driving projects in Direct/Indirect tax with focus on structural solutions to address data quality issues (80% of the time)

• Driving tax-related initiatives with teams in other process areas (S2P, OTC, Inter-company, MDM) to embed tax requirements in the processes

• Working with UniOps Operations team for all country to streamline, simply and automate the processes across markets

• Drive projects to implement tools and technology to drive process efficiencies

• Review that the tax controls in Unilever Controls framework are incorporated in the process implemented for the markets

• Drive compliance with the Global process model

• Drive continuous improvement, provide recommendations for a best in class process for direct/indirect tax

Technical Skills

• Overview of Direct Tax/Indirect tax/Withholding Tax/ Transfer Pricing

• Understanding of Tax related set up in SAP

• End user knowledge of SAP (FI module).

• Experience of working with SAP IT teams will be an advantage

• Digital awareness to drive process improvements

• Proficient at collecting / querying / consolidating information from accounting / ERP systems.

• Experience in successful transition of activities to a Global Hub will be an advantage

Soft skills:

• Good in verbal and written communications.

• Should have a positive attitude and should be able to proactively get things done.

• Strong problem solving, and analytical skills

• Good interpersonal Skills - Must have the ability to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels inside and outside of the company.

• Must be a self-starter with proven ability to take ownership of job responsibilities.

• Qualified Accountant with 5-6 years of experience

• Work experience in Accounting (R2R) and Finance or Direct Tax/Indirect Tax
