What are we looking for

The Manufacturing Excellence Lead (MaEx) at our Minto ice cream factory is responsible for managing and driving the implementation of the WCM programme, ManEx Projects and digital transformation in the factory. 

The position reports to the plant manager and is a member of the plant leadership team. The role will manage all WCM activities for loss eradication within manufacturing inbound and out bound supply chain context. The role is also responsible to develop a WCM Master-plan from the site manufacturing strategy, providing WCM skill development and coaching for all operators, engineers, supervisors, and managers in the sourcing unit. The role will also drive and implement all ManEx Projects

Manufacturing Excellence Lead has a direct impact on improvement of manufacturing performance (e.g.  OR, OEE, Man Ex Savings).

Some of the key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Implementation, management, and successful operation of a World Class Manufacturing process in the plant.
  • Site WCM master plan and actions are aligned with the category manufacturing strategy.
  • Development of the WCM preparation phase plan, tracks progress against the plan and leads issue resolution (gap analysis and adjustments to plan).

This role will be a key culture change agent to our factory and:

  • Ensure WCM work is impacting both results and the culture change towards the vision as determined by the plant zero loss journey, vision. including:
  • Set up mini celebrations of successes (passing steps, success case studies, competition: Best OPL (One point lesson), best improvement each month, lines exceeding a true efficiency level)
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the WCM efficiency basics and their integration to deliver increased efficiency results early in the WCM implementation. Implementation of digital tools by working closely with global/cluster teams.
  • Develop Pillar leaders and manage their development.
  • Serves as a resource and coach for questions and practices regarding the WCM process

You will have:

  • Strong Manufacturing experience (Essential)
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience working within process improvement
  • Understanding of Manufacturing technologies, digitalisation, and automation
  • An analytical mindset coupled with data analysis skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop continues improvements strategies and implementation plans
  • Business process improvement qualifications in Lean Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt (Desirable)
  • Good communication and influential skills
