We are looking for ANZ Environmental Coordinator who will report to the ANZ Safety, Health and Environment Manager & have direct responsibility for timely reporting to external regulatory bodies and internal Unilever Australasia’s requirements. Providing specific technical expertise in the development, implementation and review processes of the Environmental programs throughout the supply chain and maintain Corporate Environmental systems and reporting requirements. They will be expected to lead & coach environmental change at the manufacturing sites.
The role focus will have a high level of independence and autonomy whilst maintaining a team culture, with an expectation that the individual will initiate and implement environmental footprint reduction programs. This would involve strong interaction with technical and management staff throughout the supply chain and other functional areas. In particular good contacts must be maintained with key regional and global technical experts and supply chain personnel. Specific expertise in the area of environmental capability, risk assessment, aspects and impacts, analytical and reporting on environmental management systems will be expected.
The candidate will work with corporate sustainability, Workplace Services and Supply Chain management to identify activities that will assist them to meet their KPI’s, source any funding to enable environmental projects to be conducted.
They must be focused on delivering work of a high standard with an ability to independently assess and resolve Environmental issues. They must be able to successfully communicate issues, standards and compliance requirements and possess an ability to influence all levels of staff and management. Given the importance of maintaining a high standard of safety and environment for our staff and community they must be thorough in their approach to issues and be able to utilize their technical and analytical skills in exercising good judgment
Responsible for the development of the ANZ Environmental Plan taking into account Unilever and Australia and New Zealand Regulatory requirements.
Lead the development of a strategic framework for the implementation Environmental improvement programs to meet Unilever Australiasia, legislative requirements in Australia and New Zealand.
Coordinate approved Environmental programs for all manufacturing sites including Third party distribution centres, offices and retail stores (Ben and Jerry’s).
Document and maintain audit reports, questionnaires.
Investigate environmental issues and work with sites to generate corrective action and improvement programs
Responsible for resolution of specific environmental issues. Co-ordinate regional input/activity as required.
Co-ordinate Environmental improvement activities at SU’s and strategic contract manufacturers
Manage the programs through site audits, certification reviews, liaison with regional/Global contacts and databases
Identify Environmental and sustainable projects in consultation with the sites, monitor and report on progress.

Deliver the Environmental Road Map
Drive the Energy Strategic Plan
Ensure systems and data management procedures are fully aligned with Unilever regional and global requirements.
Manage existing Corporate Environmental Management systems reporting tools.
Update local reporting formats and establish uniformity in site reporting.
Work with sites to streamline systems, reports, and data management
Ensure data and reports are available in a timely and accurate manner. Develop improvements in type, frequency and accuracy of data.
Manage and complete National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting, analyse the report to reduce Co2.
Review, verify and submit manufacturing site National Pollutant Inventory reports
Manage Environmental reporting requirements and ensure all reports, including regional, are distributed in a timely and accurate manner
Liaise with regional/global technical/SC contacts to improve quality of reporting formats.
Review current reports supplied to local, regional and global customers and develop improvements in format, content and timeliness.
Ensure accuracy in all reporting, procedures etc
Apply technical expertise to provide solutions to identified environmental issues to ensure the business meets environmental targets.
Attend relevant taskforce meetings as required and ensure Unilever Environmental standards are met.
What are we looking for
Must have at least 5 years’ experience in relevant Environmental technical role.
Expertise in the area of Environmental systems, and risk management will be expected.
Experience with Environmental Management systems,
Relevant audit qualification
Relevant qualifications i.e. Degree in Environmental Engineering / Sciences
