RTVA was initiated as part of the Supply Chain Transformation agenda to deliver a cross cluster and cross functional Supply Chain Big Data and Analytics infrastructure on the Azure platform. There were 3 key components to the RTVA strategy
Data Foundation – Building the cross functional data foundation (Make, Source, Plan, Deliver and Order to Cash) in Azure, with the required granularity and recency of data to enable decision making. People Foundation – To fully leverage the data asset we set up a people agenda under the Citizen data scientist program to upskill the relevant resources in Supply Chain. Deliver analytics products delivering business value have been and will continue to be delivered in multiple generations:
Human In the Loop – Visibility products with KPI’s and Loss Tree for performance management across Plan, Source, Make, Deliver and Order to Cash
Human On the Loop – Products for better, faster decisions e.g., Buyers Console, Cross Border Sourcing, Predictive Dispatch Rate
Human Out of the Loop – Cognitive automation with Aera delivered for Planning in Europe and now being extended to other processes and clusters. Forecasting Engine Utility – leveraging Machine Learning for Demand Planning being delivered as part of iOPs
The role will be responsible ownership of the Real time visibility and Analytics platform.
Integrate elements of Real Time Visibility and Analytics: Integrate the technology, data streams with the business requirements needs and tailor the timing of delivery to meet business priorities
Integrate and resolve interdependencies with other Digital platforms
Innovation for Real Time Visibility and Analytics: Develop the Horizon 3, areas of innovation to exploit and expand the strategic agenda for digital. Always ensure that Horizon model is updated and there is a rich funnel for innovation in the RTVA platform
Identify and Exploit capabilities delivered by the Platform: Monitor and share the business opportunities to exploit the capabilities delivered.
Establish the project management cycle: Embed the PMO organization and processes with a drumbeat of weekly and monthly activities
Investment Control: Support, control and report on budget and leading indicators of benefits
Landing and Adoption: Set up and drive the Landing and Adoption of the RTVA assets. Work with the Divisions and Markets to ensure that there is a proper landing and adoption plan, and the usage and benefits are getting regularly monitored and driven
Data foundation: Ensure that there is a robust program and governance to Data foundation. Working with the process excellence, platform, and clusters to deliver the required Data Foundation across process areas
Create a vision for Cognitive Automation. This role will be responsible for driving cognitive automation across the width of Supply Chain. This would include technologies like Aera and Forecasting Engine Utility
Manage the Digital Systems of Differentiation portfolio: Ensuring that the right choices are being made for the technologies being deployed on the systems of differentiation
Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Integration: Create a cohesive, end to end story of the transformation delivered by the digital platforms to help engage stakeholders and prepare them to deal with impacts
Delivery support: Identify and support the market and cluster leaders responsible for the local implementations of new ways of working, new technology and new roles.
Delivery role and budget clarity: Agree responsibilities, resources and budget for delivery of the programme by global and local resources.
Change and organisation models: Adapt delivery of the processes to synchronize with implementation of the organisation models, responsibilities at global, cluster and market level.
Design of Real time visibility and analytics product (Livewire for Supply Chain) together with global functions and clusters
Co-lead the roll-out of this product on MS Azure data lake along with Uniops as per rollout roadmap
Drive change management and benefit delivery of real-time visibility and analytics platform in the clusters
Support Priority Business Decisions – The Director will work to understand Supply Chain strategy, priorities, and role in the broader Unilever organization. The Director will leverage organizational knowledge and work closely with Supply Chain stakeholders at all Global, Regional and local levels to address priority business questions, with a focus on value delivery
Portfolio and budget management
Keep in tune with industry trends, techniques, tools and use cases to steer the internal improvement and innovation of Real time visibility and Analytics, Process Innovation, Digital Factory and Planning
Deep collaboration with the Global functions, clusters and Uniops to drive unique and innovative advanced analytics, machine learning and data science solutions, including data, tools, methods, and infrastructure
Masterful Collaboration – including incorporate a high degree of senior socialization, identifying interdependent activities and bias towards front-loading high impact work
Key Skills Required
Industry experience driving change management and solving business problems. This may include improving on-time performance, network planning, etc.
Track record of delivering Global multi-country projects
Proven thought leadership on challenging problems
Proven experience operating successfully in a complex organizational environment
Experience interacting and influencing senior management; understanding, anticipating, and fulfilling their insight
Experience with the application of predictive modelling and / or optimization to business problems
Hands on experience with business cases and budget management
Experience of leading iterative design for process and technical development cycles, hackathons and agile development
