Training Front Line Manager

Background & Purpose of the Job

The training supervisor is responsible for improving the technical skills of the organization’s associates to improve overall performance. This position assesses developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for associates. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance technical capabilities and recognize performance.

You’re a change maker: You will leverage new digital tools to drive sustainable changes in the areas of responsibility.  Key to this is the ability to use 3D CAD to explore how to create solutions and includes the 3D printer technology and its tools.  You have strong strategic influencing and organizational awareness to drive common practices across sites and categories.

You are inquisitive, resourceful and eager to Learn: You do not accept the norm, you are looking for opportunities to improve current designs needed beyond lead time and cost – how can you design a part that improves line efficiency, operation and functionality

You’re a born leader: You are in charge of looking after a new AM facility serving the N American Network of factories, you are the leader of change bringing others on the journey with you. You take pride in the facility, equipment and the driving the program in North America.

You’re a dot connector: You are a part of many different groups and touch the work plans of many teams. You will connect the dots between Engineering groups in the Factories and the Divisions, build relationships and work with Additive Manufacturing Engineers in the other AM hubs across the world. Taking and sharing best practice and thinking, bringing it into your work. There will also be external orientation for working with our OEM suppliers.

You’re a culture and change champion: You will drive a new way of working to the Engineering and Operations community in our continued pursuit of lowering installed cost, increasing efficiency and decreasing lead times. By designing and producing parts that add value, you will change the culture of the way we do things, also engaging others in the program to entrench this into our ways of working.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain related curriculum, quick reference guides, instructor/participant guides, business case exercises, job aids and "train-the-trainer toolkits." 

  • Conducts monthly training as defined by the training matrix. 

  • Proposes training and development programs and objectives. 

  • Develops and monitors spending against the departmental budget. 

  • Provides continuous improvements in existing courses. 

  • Develops and maintains organizational communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources. 

  • Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results. 

  • Evaluate training efficiency and business impact through formalized metrics, gap assessments and continuous improvement feedback for enhanced course offerings. 

  • Ability to create e-learning modules with quiz functionality, Adobe Captivate and related graphic design skill development, a plus. 

  • Explore new ideas in training workflows in forward-thinking concepts to promote dynamic learning options in brainstorming, design sessions. 

  • Contribute to the overall success of the Training Team by identifying ways to continuously improve the learning process and all other duties, as assigned. 

  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR Staff 

  • Use computer skills to design and develop training based on needs analysis.

Essential

Desired

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, communications, education, or related discipline. 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in design, implementation, and facilitation of learning and development programs within a manufacturing environment. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively across all levels in the company. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, multi-tasking, communication and facilitation skills. 

  • Ability to multi-task on projects in a fast-paced working environment. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications – Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. 

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills; Planning and organizing 

  • Ability to Influence and lead
