Schaffhausen and Singapore are the two key Procurement’s global hubs which lead strategy and are home to the global portfolio teams such as Packaging, Chemicals, Naturals, MBS, and Sustainable Sourcing.


The Procurement Strategy & Insights Team serves as the nerve centre of the Unilever global procurement organization, which enables the procurement organization to design and deliver step-change across the procurement value chain, operating process, and business model. This team is responsible for:

  • Sensing and incubating innovative ideas, new business models & transformation programs for value creation as UPLT partners
  • Enabling transformation programs, facilitating upskilling of employees, and developing strategy with respective portfolio VPs and PCLF members
  • Identifying and scaling up best practices across the global procurement organization


Reporting to the Data Strategy & Digital Lead / Manager, the purpose of this role is:

  • Utilizing data to drive future-fit procurement strategy and to create value in competitive buying, resilience & partnership
  • Enable data and insights-driven business decisions
  • Build strategic partnership with other digital team across Unilever Organization (e.g. D&A, R&D, Plan)


The Assistant Strategy & Insights Manager will interface with the following stakeholders:

  • PCLF
  • Head of Global Procurement Strategy & Insights and team
  • Head of Procurement Supplier Operations and team
  • Portfolio Team Leads
  • Real-time Visibility & Analytics (RTVA) Team
  • Data & Analytics Team
  • Digital R&D Team
  • Procurement Finance Team
  • Potential vendors for external solutions


Co-own Data Strategy

  • Identify, transform, and connect all procurement relevant data
  • Ensure consistent and trusted data across Procurement Organization
  • Democratize data for self-service analytics and insights generation
  • Support Sourcing Team on Business Intelligence and Advance Analytics for value creation
  • Contribute to Future-fit Digital Product development from data infrastructure perspective

Strategic Business Partnering

  • Work closely with business and/or procurement stakeholders to understand their goals and determine how data can be used to achieve those goals
  • Design data modelling processes, create algorithms, predictive models and visualizations to extract the data the business needs
  • Conduct data analysis and derive insights for decision making
  • Project manage initiatives / solutions in collaboration with other Strategy & Insights team members

  • B.S. or M.S. in a relevant technical field
  • 3-5 years’ related experience in a procurement role either in Unilever / FMCG industry or in a large complex organisation with strong portfolio and market expertise
  • Business and commercial acumen
  • Expert knowledge with data visualization software like Microsoft Power BI is a plus
  • Experience with analysis tools like R, Python is a plus
  • Experience working with large data sets, experience working with distributed computing tools is a plus (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.)
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
  • Background in data analytics is a plus
  • Ability and drive to work independently and across virtual teams
  • Experience of working in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment – both F2F and virtually
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and peers effectively
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and story-telling skills to respond to multiple market/portfolio specific characteristics and influence change remotely
  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
