Roles & Responsibilities:

The primary role of the Digital Solutions Lead is to provide leadership in the design and execution of technical solutions through a clear understanding of technology trends and consumer behavior. You’ll work closely with other Ben & Jerry’s and agency developers to design, develop and maintain consumer facing web sites across a large global footprint. You’ll work with a cross functional team of U.S. based Ben & Jerry’s staff to develop and execute progressive, innovative, and strategic winning campaigns that support progressive social change.


·Collaborates with key technical agencies/vendors to align on approaches to web development, infrastructure and integration projects

·Interfaces with other functional areas of the business to understand and translate business objectives and initiatives into technical solutions using both client-side and server-side programming

·Monitors industry trends, web site analytics and device trends and recommends opportunities

·Translates design artifacts into mobile-first experiences optimized for a full range of modern devices using HTML, CSS and JavaScript

·Interfaces with hosting and security teams to troubleshoot infrastructure issues or implement solutions

·Ensures consumer data is captured and handled securely and in accordance with regulations and Unilever policies, including, but not limited to GDPR, CCPA, EU Cookie Regulation

·Ensures user interface design and development adheres to best practices for page speed optimization

·Ensures technical solutions adhere to industry and Unilever security standards


·Monitors web site analytics data and device trends and identifies issues or opportunities. Recommends process, resourcing, and technical changes for efficiency and scalability

·Produces documentation of processes and solutions of both a technical and a descriptive nature

·Plays supporting role in ensuring user interface design and development follow best practices for user experience (UX) patterns and user centric design principles

·Ensures user interface design and development adheres to accessibility (WCAG) standards and processes

·Contributes to the A/B testing and personalization roadmap through solution design, development and analysis

·Interfaces with Unilever IT to ensure awareness, and in some cases alignment, with platforms, capabilities and processes that support ours of Unilever’s broader initiatives

·Ensures content is optimized for search engine ranking (SEO) leading to increased traffic to the site

What You’ll Need To Succeed:

·Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or equivalent level of experience

·A minimum of 4-6 years of experience developing multi-lingual, responsive web-based applications

·Proficiency in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery

·Experience with Java application development: IDE, frameworks, version control, runtime, etc.

·Experience with dynamic page development using JSP

·Experience working with a team in a continuous integration environment

·Experience with cloud infrastructure principles and solutions

·Experience with content management systems and principles

·Experience with mobile-first design/development strategies

·Experience with external data integrations (XML, Web Services, REST, RSS)

·Understanding of site speed analysis and optimization principles

·Familiarity with web accessibility standards/best practices

·Familiarity with web analytics platforms, tag management platforms and associated technologies

·Working knowledge of information architecture, interaction design, and user centric design principles

·Strong organizational and analytical skills

·Strong written and oral communication skills

·Strong consultation, interpersonal and influencing skills
