We are looking for a Manufacturing Excellence Lead who will be responsible for managing and driving the implementation of the Manex and UMS programmes in the sourcing unit including Digital Factory. This role reports to the plant manager/director and is a member of the site leadership team.
S/he will lead and coordinate all ManEx activities for loss eradication and continuous improvement within manufacturing inbound and out bound supply chain context.
S/he is also responsible to assist the site leadership to develop and implement the Factory Master Plan from the site manufacturing strategy, providing UMS skill development and coaching for all operators, engineers, supervisors and managers in the sourcing unit.
The site Manufacturing Excellence Lead has a direct impact on improvement of manufacturing performance (E.g., OR, OEE, ManEx Savings).
Responsible for the implementation, management, and successful operation of the Unilever Management System (UMS) on the site. Developing a thorough understanding of the Unilever Management System methods and principles.
Facilitates the development of individual pillars, assists in setting KPIs and targets, and tracks completion of pillar goals, including participation in pillar meetings, team meetings and activities. Assists Pillar leaders with their development.
Serves as a resource and coach for questions and practices regarding the UMS and ManEx processes, methods, and principles.
Serves as a champion in the facility to promote UMS principles amongst management and employees and site culture change.
Ensure that UMS work is impacting both results and the culture change towards the vision as determined by the plant zero loss journey.
Provide expertise and ensure compliance in KPI calculation and measurement based on ManEx MMP Code.
Responsible for the administration of the site 5S program. Assist with training development and coaching on 5S skills and application.
Participate in the identification, selection, and implementation of new digital factory systems.
Identify and support ManEx savings opportunities and projects.
Work closely with teams to ensure site priorities are completed in a timely manner and follow UMS principles

Safety - Utilise all appropriate safety and environmental procedures relating to the Sourcing Unit and allocated equipment to ensure a safe working environment for the whole team. Understand the legal responsibility placed upon individuals. Ensure that ManEx activities, learning and training are embedded in a positive SHE culture.
Workplace Hazards – Full knowledge of the workplace and hazards within it. Utilise all appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment relevant to the task.
Environment – Implement and support ManEx and UMS initiatives that reduce environmental impacts and costs associated with utilities, chemicals and product and operational wastes through maximising eco-efficient operation.
UMS Facilitation – Full Operating knowledge of UMS pillar structure and how pillars inter-link to deliver and sustain real business improvements. Inculcates the UMS philosophy of eliminating losses and waste across all factory personnel.
Teach, coach and mentor semi-autonomous teams to utilize all necessary UMS and ManEx tools, linking these to the reduction of losses in the factory.
Ensure that semi-autonomous and autonomous teams are adhering to the overall UMS Pillar Plan.
Facilitate Focused Improvement teams, which focus on priority losses (liaise closely with HR, the Skills Trainer and Manufacturing Manager to integrate and synergise all training and analytical interventions).
Support the development of local UMS and ManEx training material but draw on global material wherever possible.
Continuous Improvement - Use performance measures to identify and prioritise losses across the site. Apply rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero loss concept to eliminate losses. Use routine improvements and problem analysis to trigger manufacturing innovation; this is an iterative process. Deploy these analytical skills across the factory.
Quality – Support the Quality Manager with the application of Quality Improvement tools across the sourcing unit. Ensure Quality Maintenance tools are also utilised including analysis of Quality losses.
Personal Leadership –The ManEx coordinator must lead improvement using a high level of technical knowledge, clear communication and logical thinking.
Problem Solving - Identifies, prioritises and addresses problems using the full range of improvement tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence. Capable and confident of leading and supporting teams using Kaizen and other improvement tools.
Data and Trend Analysis – Use high level of analytical skills to identify and interrogate data, KPIs and trends.
Innovation- Apply a critical mind to innovate efficient processes and embrace new technologies to drive Competitive Advantage.
Business Awareness - Understanding of the need to meet changing demands and the role of marketing and product innovation in growing the business and increasing the company's share.
