Background & Purpose
The Associate Customer Business Manager will support the Dollar General Team Lead and Customer Business Managers as a developmental direct selling position, while also supporting the team with proactive analysis of current business trends, identifying future opportunities, ad hoc reporting, automation, weekly standard reporting, and working to minimize potential future risks to the Unilever business.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
The position will require advanced skills in storytelling, navigating Retailer Data, Nielsen, and customer POS data. You will also need to be very proficient in Microsoft Office, have some negotiation experience, and have worked in a sales team setting prior. The ideal candidate should have exceptional Excel skills with the ability to create solutions with a data analytic mindset. The role has dual responsibility as mentioned above. First would be providing for weekly analysis and reporting of sales, trends, and competitive activity, along with creating actionable insights from the analysis of these trends. There could also be opportunities for special projects, working with our GenPact partners on deductions, and working with Team Lead on financial accounting summaries for leadership. Second would be managing an assigned business from contract to deduction, executing sales strategies set by CSP and being focused on delivering all KPI’s including competitive share and USG growth.
- Direct selling responsibility for an assigned business
- Delivering set KPI’s including share growth and USG growth
- Team reports utilizing internal and external syndicated data to provide POS, shipment and DSD data to support JBPs, promo analysis weekly/monthly customer meetings (weekly reporting)
- Work directly with CBMs/Team Lead to strategize solutions and best approaches for customer meetings
- Assist CBMs with Customer Forms (Line Review Add.Delete and ProForma) and coordinate with Genpact on New Item, Cost Change and SKU Maintenance forms
- Customer Forms & Funding Updates (Funding Scorecard, JBP bridge update)
- .com Item setup/digital content
- Customer Contract Tracking
- Simplify Power User and support for promo planning process
- Provide post promotional analysis deep dive analytics into Scale/Promotional activity to identify highlight performance that will assist in securing opportunities for future programs/events
- Serve as the liaison between cross-functional Internal Unilever teams, Genpact, Distributors, and Customer if needed
- Compile Promotional calendars, Distribution sheets, DG Vendor Scorecards, ECF & Markdowns
- Tracking: Ad trackers, Over/Under Competitive calendars, New Items, Gifting sell through, IC POG compliance and IC Contract/ ECF/ LEAP/Growth Incentive payments
- Adhoc reporting & analysis
You’re a strategy guru: The position will interact daily with the Customer Business Managers and Team Lead, as well as with cross functional teams to include Supply Chain, Insights, Category Management, and Shopper Marketing to drive our business and ensure goals are met.
You love to win, and have fun doing it: The position will require managing multiple data feeds and analyzing that data to build a story of information that will enable the team to win in the marketplace. A highly analytical background along with a desire to win are attributes needed for our candidate to succeed in this role
You’re a story-teller: The position will require timely communication and in depth analytical support focused on business solutions. Reporting and managing professional presentations are necessary for the role, but the ideal candidate will also be able to effectively communicate that idea or story.
You’re a dot connector: The position will require the ability to retrieve and analyze many different data points from multiple sources. The ideal candidate will have the ability to connect these points quickly to understand emerging trends as they are happening in the marketplace.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
- Undergraduate degree is required with 5+ years of related experience, Trade Marketing and Category Management experience is a plus
- Must be skilled in relationship building, verbal, and written communications
- Must be able to effectively relate with multiple levels of management, both internally and externally
- Must be a strategic and big picture thinker that can work effectively on a team, and in a highly collaborative manner
- Must have strong relationship building and management skills
- “Story telling” presentation creation skills a plus
- Working knowledge of 1010, Nielsen, Evergreen, Loyalty Card Data and Customer POS Data is desired
- Strong analytical skills and solution orientated
Pay: The pay range for this position is $83,200 to $124,700. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
