Beauty & Wellbeing (B&W) Greater Asia is a ~1.2 B Euro Business and home to iconic brands such as Sunsilk, Vaseline, Dove, Clear. Greater Asia is seen as a geography which is an early adopter of Social First marketing and the beauty hub with R&D as the center of excellence.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE?
The role will do end-to-end partnering with the VP Beauty & Wellbeing, Head of R&D Greater Asia and the rest of the LT sitting across different R&D teams and markets (Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, Korea). You will also play a bigger role in leading the critical Organization, Capability, Culture linked agenda for the BU at large along with the Beauty & Wellbeing Greater Asia HR Lead and the HR team.
THE BEAUTIFUL ENTRPRENEURIAL BUNCH YOU WILL INTERFACE:
1) BU R&D key partners:
• VP Beauty & Wellbeing, Head of R&D Greater Asia
• Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, Carver Korea Country R&D Leads
• Greater Asia Functional R&D Leads, i.e., Technical Leads, Packaging, Processing, Claims & Engagement
• Bangkok Site R&D Leadership, i.e., Home Care, Foods, Personal Care, Food Solutions Heads of R&D and Site Ops Lead
2) PMO key partners:
• B&W Greater Asia General Manager
• B&W Greater Asia Finance Lead
• Country Commercial Leads, through Country HR Business Partners
• Productivity Office
3) HR key partners:
• B&W Greater Asia HR Lead
• HR Lead R&D, B&W and 1UL R&D
• In-country and R&D HR Business Partners
• People Experience Lead, GA Talent Partner Lead
ORGANIZATION:
• Understand the current organization design, the gaps and collaborating with business leaders to resource for value.
• Governance of overall workforce resourcing against the Destination organization and overheads budgets including planning/tracking of FTEs, interns etc.
• Proactive resourcing planning, strategic organization design for channels like Social Commerce
CAPABILITY:
• Business Model transformation: Partnering with relevant business leads towards upskilling the organization towards new social first and business model. E.g. Social first upskilling, amplifying R&D functional capabilities, Innovations Process, Digital upskilling
• Function specific capability interventions collaborating with global functions HR team
• Beauty Academy: Ensuring engagement and participation of teams in Beauty Academy programs
• Collaborate with BU HR team, BG HR community and the Global capability teams to prioritize and implement Capability interventions including 1) Leadership interventions e.g. BULT day aways and 2) Function specific interventions e.g. R&D global curriculum nominations & deployment.
CULTURE & TALENT:
• Collaborate with BG HR community and BU HR team in across the 5 markets and “Re-energizing the organization in Q1” and through the next 2-3 years bringing alive Beauty Culture which makes the BU the most respected and admired Beauty Company.
• Coach Leaders and Teams in dialing up the edge in Performance Culture and in embracing the new Unilever behaviours
• Leading the People Forums for GA R&D markets.
SKILLS THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD HAVE:
Beauty Quotient: the candidate must have an appreciation for Beauty and be able to relate to the beauty and digital talent we want to attract.
Business acumen: deep understanding or willingness to truly learn what the business does, what are the key metrics to demonstrate value & impact.
More human: High EQ to be able to establish connection, trust and respect from the teams partnered. Ability to energize moments worth celebrating and manage with utmost maturity the moments that need a professional, humane approach.
Strategic thinking and rigor in data/detail: someone who could zoom out and understand the “why” by diving into data and insights, as well as get hands dirty and brilliantly execute the “what”.
Performance Coaching & Casting: ability to coach and challenge leaders and teams
Agility: Openness and willingness to accept ambiguity, learn, experiment and innovate.
EXPERIENCES THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD HAVE:
~5 years of HR Partnering experience in Marketing and or go-to-market teams and functions (like SC) may help. Experience of working in Beauty/Personal care category would be an added advantage.
Driving organization, capability and culture agenda across 1 or multiple countries
Strategic thinking and rigor in data/detail: someone who could zoom out and understand the “why” by diving into data and insights, as well as get hands dirty and brilliantly execute the “what”.
Performance Coaching & Casting: ability to coach, challenge, and influence leaders and teams
Agility: Openness and willingness to accept ambiguity, learn, experiment and innovate.
Experience of local country employment norms and ways of working is a must.
Experience of working in regional teams (networking, ways of working nuance, where to add distinctive value and understanding tension points)
Working with breadth of HR teams in countries (e.g. PP, TP, IR/ER teams etc.)
