Introduction:

Global Data and Tech (GDT) and Global Business Services (GBS) are reshaping how our business operates and is experienced. By integrating our world-class technology capabilities with decades of supply chain expertise, these functions elevate our best practices to ‘next practice’—making the organisation more agile, responsive, and future-ready.
This transformation enables long-term strategic thinking while decoupling day-to-day execution, ensuring we deliver today and evolve for tomorrow.

GBS is one of Unilever’s largest entities, with an overhead cost base of €0.5B and capex of €0.1B. It serves as the operational backbone of the company, powering daily delivery and enabling Unilever to win in the marketplace.

GBS drives performance through radical simplification and standardisation, delivering trusted, efficient end-to-end solutions that redefine corporate effectiveness and sharpen our competitive edge. This unlocks growth and profitability by allowing BG/BU/1UL to focus on market-facing value drivers.

GBS services span Customer Experience, People Experience, Workplace Services, Finance Operations, Supplier Operations, and Global Marketing Services—each undergoing significant transformation.

The transformation agenda across GBS is ambitious and enterprise-wide. It includes:
• Digitisation and automation of core processes to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
• Platform consolidation to streamline operations and reduce complexity.
• Data-driven decision-making through enhanced analytics and reporting capabilities.
• Agile ways of working to accelerate delivery and responsiveness.
• Capability building to future-proof the workforce and embed a culture of continuous improvement.

The Finance Business Partnering community plays a pivotal role in enabling this transformation—supporting service delivery, driving high-value interventions, and shaping strategic outcomes across the GBS landscape.

The newly created One Performance Management Team has consolidated four separate performance teams into One: these are the Strategy, Global Performance Management, CDMO and Unilever Business Operations finance teams. Within this new scope, a central Finance Excellence Team (FET) was established and Controlling activities were consolidated into one independent team, thus liberating Finance Business Partners (FBP) from performance management to focus on value moments.

The main FBP responsibilities in GBS would include:
a) End-to-End Value Intervention Partnership
b) Lead business case development, scenario modelling, and implementation.
c) Cover interventions across Capex, Restructuring, and F4G.
d) Provide rigorous scrutiny of costs and benefits, and challenge project performance.
e) Maintain agility to pivot expertise across strategic priorities.
f) Being the Strategic finance lead for one or multiple initiatives.
g) Act as the finance lead for one or more strategic initiatives impacting GBS.
h) Participate in project leadership teams to shape and monitor strategy.
i) Serve as the primary finance contact for business product/foundation teams, leveraging strong networks across the One Performance Team
j) Financial involvement in major contract negotiations / development with 3rd parties
k) Key partner to Procurement Finance during the CPM - Collaborative Procurement Model process of contracts coming up for review.
l) Support on validating financial business case, and cost modelling, including treasury and tax considerations
m) Strategic alignment between new contract negotiation and GBS service provision.
n) Provision of data analytics with Contract Managers (& link to FET team)
o) Change Management and Communication

p) Support the rollout of major initiatives across clusters and functions, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement
