PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Unilever is embarking on a business transformation program which will transform its existing operating model to a simplified, global model which will be able to adopt AI enabled processes.
Key enabler of the program is replacement of existing 4 regional SAP ECC based ERP systems with a Global fit to standard SAP S4HANA system.
The Data Migration Manager is responsible for defining, governing, master data & transactional data migration activities required to successfully consolidate four SAP ECC systems into a single SAP S/4HANA instance.
The role ensures data quality, consistency, harmonization, and readiness across all migration waves, enabling accurate business processes and regulatory compliance in the target S/4HANA system.

Main purpose of job:
As the Data Migration Manager, you will be responsible from planning, coordinating, managing and driving end to end data migration & harmonization execution of all master data within the existing ECC systems which will be transferred to S4HANA system in waves. Additionally, you will manage migration of the transactional data for open transactions in source ECCs (Purchase Orders, Production Orders, Sales Orders etc).
The role ensures data is extracted, cleansed, transformed, validated, reconciled, and loaded with high quality, on time, and with full traceability of all data transformations delivering a “clean” target system by migrating only active/open business-critical data as agreed, for all Mock Loads & Production Loads.
You will be coordinating global & local business resources, technical ECC & S4HANA experts, such that Data Migration is never in the critical path for the project timeline. Your role will be crucial in ensuring data readiness for all phases of the program so that data loads can be performed for test cycles such as Integration Test, UAT etc & for production cutover.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance, master data management, and data migration processes with hands-on experience in SAP data structures and migration for large scale ERP transformations.

Key accountabilities:
1) Data Migration Strategy, Planning & Governance
• Develop and own the data migration execution plan, mock strategy/timeline, and cutover approach; track progress, dependencies, and risks/issues, aligned with the overall data migration and governance framework.
• Establish and maintain migration governance (templates, standards, data dictionary inputs, workflows) and reporting (KPIs, status, issue escalation).
• Ensure alignment with data governance policies (integrity, security, compliance) and auditability requirements.
2) Design Ownership (Data Mapping & Transformation)
• Lead/coordinate the creation and approval of core design artifacts, including:
Data Design Documents (DDD), Field Mapping Documents (FMD), Functional Design for Conversion (FDC); aligned to the S/4HANA data model. Lead a team of data migration analysts and coordinate activities across business data owners, functional leads, and migration teams.
• Functional Mapping/Transformation and cleansing rules (e.g., FMD/FDC) with business and functional consultants.
• Drive cross-system harmonization decisions needed for consolidation (e.g., key mapping, duplicate handling, canonical values)
3) Build & Run (ETL / Load Execution Management)
• Oversee technical execution of extract, transform, and load activities, coordinating data migration developers and tool teams.
• Manage end-to-end ETL steps and defect resolution through cycles, including table dumps/extracts from ECC where needed.
• Ensure toolchain readiness (e.g., SAP Data Services / ETL accelerators, SLT for loads where applicable) and repeatable runbooks.
4) Data Quality, Validation, Reconciliation & Sign-off
• Drive data cleansing coordination with business/workstreams to achieve readiness in legacy or data construction activities.
• Establish automated and manual validation/reconciliation processes; ensure pre-load and post-load checks are executed and signed off.
• Accountable for migrated data correctness and acceptance; ensure traceability and audit trails.
5) Testing Cycles, Mock Loads & Deployment Readiness
• Plan and execute migration mocks and production load rehearsals; manage defect triage, fixes, and re-runs.
• Coordinate “go/no-go” data readiness inputs into overall program governance and cutover decisioning.
• Support deployment activities and hyper-care handover (operational data maintenance processes post go-live)
6) Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
• Work closely with Data Cleansing, Data Migration, Data Governance, and Functional Teams to ensure alignment on data requirements and standards.
• Partner with business data owners to validate data and sign off on readiness.
• Report Data Migration status, issues, and KPIs to the Program Data Lead and Program Governance.
