Background & Purpose of the Job:

As the Fragrance Innovation team and Beauty & Wellbeing, our mission is to elevate consumers’ experiences by delivering delightful fragrances to our consumers. We are looking for fragrance experts with not only a passion for fragrance but also a passion to create rewarding experiences for the consumers we serve, and, in doing so, make a positive difference in their lives. You will be leading the India regional Fragrances for Unilever, working at the interface between our company, the Internal Unilever Fragrance House, and the external Fragrance House suppliers to deliver excellence in all aspects of the perfumery cross category. In addition, you will be leading critical Skin Care and Hair Care Brands such as Clinic Plus, Glow & Lovely, Lakme, Induleka, Ponds, Vaseline, Sunsilk & TRESemme, etc.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do:
This role is a management position located in India to drive India business growth and work closely with the Global Fragrance team, and as the fragrance expert with a wide range of functions (marketing, R&D, Supply management, consumer insight, etc.), regionally involved in the fragrance creation and selection aspects for our Brands. The focus of this role is to lead and manage the fragrance work and team through new fragrance creation and through leading key Beauty and Wellbeing brands.

The core responsibilities of the role are:

  • Lead the fragrance development of fragrances for key Beauty and Wellbeing Global Brands & products, and continuously build Unilever’s internal global fragrance capability.
  • Translate global fragrance trends into local requirements, consumer insights, category strategy, and an in-depth understanding of our Brands in the markets in which they exist into fragrance briefs to inspire the best from Fragrance Houses.
  • Lead the brief and manage the fragrance development process, internally and externally, assessing fragrances and making fragrance recommendations across all project types (innovation, regulatory)
  • Ensure global fragrance regulatory and safety compliance for India.
  • Work in close collaboration with all key interfaces (formulation, brand, procurement) to optimise fragrance delivery and improve value

  • You love to win and have fun doing it: Fragrance is not an exact science. You must have the drive to create winning fragrances and have the passion to keep Unilever fragrance at the forefront of innovation with digital tools and new methodologies
  • You’re a culture & change champion: The role and the context in which we operate is a very dynamic one, and you must be passionate about our consumers, their needs, concerns, like and dislikes, and driven to find creative change solutions.


What You’ll Need To Succeed:

  • 5-8 years of industry experience in fragrance, with at least 1 year in Personal Beauty Products.
  • The job requires a high level of olfactory ability coupled with an inquisitive passion to understand consumer preference in fragrance, being their voice in the creation of new fragrances.
  • The candidate should be able to prioritize complex workloads, be able to work across multiple time zones, and self-motivate. Leadership and good communication are critical to be able to deliver on this role, considering the nature of the work and interfaces with stakeholders.
  • It’s also very important that the candidate be a team player who enjoys collaboration within the fragrance team and with key interfaces, who can inspire others to go the extra mile when things get challenging, and someone who will dedicate some time, passion, and energy to ensure we win as a team.
