Business Context and Main Purpose of the Role

As digital transformation accelerates, the need for robust data loss prevention (DLP) governance and actionable data insights has never been greater. The Insider Risk Digital Investigator/Case Governance will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company’s DLP strategy, ensuring that data is protected, risks are proactively managed, and business value is maximized through data-driven insights.

Role Purpose

Owns the build, test and continuous improvement of DLP and Insider Risk use cases, integrations, analytics and operational reporting turning analyst feedback and risk signals into deployed controls and insights.

Main Accountabilities

Coordinate and deliver with engineering support Chronicle SOAR integrations across key data sources (HR systems, exception lists, Purview, Entra) to enable automated and enriched security workflows.

Design and develop data-driven dashboards using Insider Risk analytics, Sentinel and Chronicle to surface insights on user behavior, risk trends and DLP effectiveness.

Continually refine operational reporting dashboards for case management (volumes, ageing, outcomes, analyst quality), evolving them as the team's reporting needs change.

Continually improve Insider Risk and DLP SOPs, playbooks and supporting documentation in partnership with the Analyst, strengthening SecOps maturity and defensibility.

Test and deploy data classification, SIT tuning and DLP labelling controls in partnership with engineering, governance and business stakeholders to enable secure data handling at scale.

Support the integration of Insider Risk and Human Risk insights to identify priority user behaviors and feed targeted guidance that reduces organizational risk.

Evaluate and enhance DLP coverage across platforms including Google Workspace and mobile environments to ensure consistent protection across all exfiltration channels.

Take ownership of tooling and detection improvement requests raised by the Analyst, prioritising them against the broader use case backlog and packaging clear feature requests for vendors and internal engineering.

Support the recording of use cases and roadmap, providing visibility to the Analyst, Insider Risk Security Manager and wider stakeholders.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency with DLP solutions (e.g., Microsoft Purview) and integration with SIEM, EDR, and CASB tools.

- Experience in data analytics, visualization, and reporting (e.g., Sentinel Log Analytics, Power BI, Tableau).

- Strong understanding of data classification, tagging, and access control methods.

- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, data sovereignty laws).

- Familiarity with cloud security and DLP controls in Microsoft 365, AWS, Azure, Zscaler, Google Workspace.

- Understanding of encryption, rights management, and role-based access controls.

Experience

- Demonstrated ability to explain complex security and data topics to non-technical stakeholders.

- Experience developing and enforcing data protection policies aligned with business needs.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in data-driven decision-making.

- Project management experience in DLP rollouts, tool upgrades, and compliance initiatives.
