Location: Beverages R&D Centre in Mexico City, Mexico Reporting to: Global Packaging Principal Engineer TBS - Pepsi Lipton Joint Venture DESCRIPTION: The Pepsi Lipton Partnership relies on diverse packaging solutions to deliver products to our customers and consumers without compromising food safety or quality. As the first touchpoint for people, packaging has a big role to play to attract consumers to the product, reflect the brand equity and be part of a holistic in-use experience. This role is to lead packaging development for the LATAM region for Pepsi Lipton International PLI. Pepsi Lipton is a Joint Venture formed between PepsiCo and Unilever in order to capitalize on the growth of the ready-to-drink tea segment. As the global leader in Ready-to-drink Iced Tea, PLI is placing an emphasis on growth in key seed markets in the LATAM region. As the LATAM region Packaging Engineer for Pepsi Lipton International, you will partner directly with PLI LATAM business team leads, the LATAM franchise owned bottling network partners and cross functional team partners in supply chain integration and product development. Driven by a strong understanding of the local market, you will partner with business team partners to drive growth through delivering value via packaging. As a LATAM business team technical partner you will bring PepsiCo packaging technologies, best in practices and best in class global designs to key markets in LATAM. In addition to delivering in year AOP objectives you will support the development of a robust Horizon 2 and 3 packaging pipeline that partners with LATAM FOBO future plans. Demonstrating a strong global mindset, you will build links with both the product development group as well as PepsiCo and UL packaging team peers in LATAM ensuring both Product and Packaging operate as one R&D. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Latin America Pepsi Lipton Packaging platform development and program execution. •While based out of the Habitat office, where the Lipton LATAM team is based as well as the LATAM Pepsi business team leads, this position will be expected to spend at least one day per week sitting in person at the PepsiCo Beverages R&D center to help ensure we developing a strong R&D / business team relationship. •Harbor a strong relationship with LATAM FOBO bottling system. Exceptional understanding of packaging capabilities, especially in key markets, Mexico & Brazil. •Develops and fosters a strong relationship with LATAM PLI SCI team. Assesses opportunities for new programs and drives engagement with appropriate business team counter parts. •Laddering up through the global PLI brand stewardship team, leverages parent company best practices to enable robust and efficient executions of activities needed to deliver AOP such as new line validations and supply assurance programs. •Leverage strong knowledge and experience driving programs across the LATAM region to develop go to market strategies driven by market obsession that unlocks execution opportunities for the PLI business. •Involved in building a strong joint venture R&D culture between Product and Packaging R&D teams in the LATAM. Serves as local engagement lead for R&D LATAM region lead and team member based in Valhalla office. •Fosters strong business team engagement with JV global packaging team to create program plans for landing key technologies driving productivity, sustainability and innovation benefits across major LATAM markets. •Works closely with Global R&D Away from Home team to create market opportunities for impactful packaging capabilities to grow share in AFH occasions focused on key LATAM AFH markets. •Actively communicate program status and risks to all stakeholders on a timely basis •Establish LATAM Packaging projects & resource budgets, and provide budget forecasts to PKG Management on a timely basis •Execute program using Technical Stage Gate (TSG) and business team stage gate processes. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: •Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Engineering or related fields. •2-5 years of experience in Commercialization, Packaging Engineering, Sustainability and/or R&D. •Strong technical experience working with beverage PET, glass and aluminum can formats as well as blow molding, filling and closure application technologies. DIFFERENTIATING COMPETENCIES: •Business Partnership: proven experience in building partnerships with other functions, demonstrating ability to influence and shape an agenda. •Market obsession: must foster an exceptional understanding of the LATAM RTD beverage market. •Possesses a developed understanding of LATAM bottlers network along with strong knowledge of ways of working with each of the major bottling partners. •Strategic thinking & business savvy: to enable platform level E2E thinking to connect a range of data into integrated opportunities to create recommendations to leadership. Ability to link research to business and environmental opportunities. •Program Management: ability to coordinate a complex variety of programs partnering with cross functional project teams. Able to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities in the commercial environment. •Clarity in communications: Simplifying complexity, communicating in a clear and concise manner. Strong presentation skills and speaking ability; effectively interacts with all levels of management and external stakeholders. •Excellent networking skills, building cross-functional and external networks to deliver goals and objectives of the team and organization. Ability to work effectively across functional teams to build a trusted partnership. •Experience in translating ideas to plans and technology trends into operational capability.
