Terms & Conditions: Full time, other staff incentives, Unilever may or may not assist with relocation.

JOB PURPOSE

The Utility Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of utility systems that support factory operations. These include generators, air compressors, HVAC systems, boilers, plumbing systems, fire suppression systems, water treatment plants, and other mechanical/electrical utility equipment. The role ensures continuous supply of high-quality utilities while maintaining safety, efficiency, compliance, and reliability.

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

A. Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on utility systems such as generators, HVAC, boilers, compressors, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

  • Conduct mechanical repairs including pumps, flow meters, heat exchangers, strainers, pneumatic systems, etc.

B. Operation & Monitoring

  • Operate utility equipment in line with Unilever SOPs to achieve desired performance and safety results.

  • Continuously monitor system parameters (steam, air, chilled water, fuel, water distribution, etc.) and ensure they remain within acceptable limits.

  • Perform configuration, calibration, and setup of utility systems where required.

C. Inspection & Troubleshooting

  • Conduct regular inspections to identify abnormalities, deviations, and potential failures in utility systems.

  • Troubleshoot breakdowns and restore utilities promptly to minimize operational disruption.

D. Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to Unilever safety policies, statutory regulations, and environmental standards.

  • Participate in emergency response actions during utility failures and ensure safe restoration of equipment.

  • Apply correct chemical handling, CIP, and eco efficiency procedures.

E. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, inspections, failures, and repairs.

  • Collect and record operational data, utility consumption, and performance metrics.

F. Continuous Improvement

  • Implement Autonomous Maintenance practices (CLIT, tagging abnormalities).

  • Support optimization of utility processes, improving reliability and reducing operational cost.

  • Participate in audits, corrective actions, and improvement projects.

G. Collaboration

  • Work with engineering teams, production managers, and contractors to ensure uninterrupted utility supply.

  • Support cross-functional problem-solving and knowledge sharing.

Experiences & Qualifications

  • OND / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in utilities, manufacturing, or industrial maintenance.

  • Strong understanding of boilers, compressors, HVAC, chillers, pumps, water treatment (DM/RO), and plumbing.

  • Knowledge of safety standards and legal requirements for utility operations.

  • Ability to diagnose mechanical/electrical faults using instrumentation and diagnostic tools.

  • Good reporting, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
