Shift Coordinator

MAIN JOB PURPOSE

The Shift Coordinator is responsible for the shiftly production plan execution and effective manpower management (absence, allocation of resource between lines or machines, OT with the approval of the Production Manager and/or Sourcing Unit Manager). She/he coordinates the team activities to achieve plant safety, quality, and production goals. S/he ensures that the inbound and outbound logistic operations is efficiently managed, with materials available to the line at the right time in the right quantity, with product ready to be efficiently evacuated via trailers or other means.

The Shift Coordinator is responsible for all team administration, including shift patterns and timekeeping in compliance with the Global Working Hours Policy for non-R2S lines. He/she must ensure that any safety, quality, staffing/personnel issues (working together with the First Line Manager, Process Engineer, HR) are managed without impact to Key Performance Indicators. S/he facilitates teamwork and helps build an effective work relationship with other shifts. S/he supports also supports members in team coordinator roles and the training certification process. The Shift Coordinator is responsible for other key activities including daily production issues and line efficiency improvements.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety and Quality

• Follow all safety and quality policies and procedures according to the existing guidelines.
• Wear / Use prescribed PPEs.
• Follow standards on personal hygiene.
• Use LOTO during troubleshooting and CILT.
• Ensure that machine guarding is in place before and during production.
• Use proper tools and equipment during troubleshooting and autonomous maintenance activities.
• Follow prescribed work procedures and company safety rules and regulations.
• Ensures that the safe operation/maintenance of his responsible area is within Company policy and legal requirements in respect of SHE.
• Ensures that the inspection of raw material and finished product is within the company specification and monitors the quality of the product delivered to the customer.

Process / Operations (In the absence of Cell Lead)

• Oversees the safe and efficient start-up and shutdown of the factory.
• Ensures that the various production units follow pre-start inspections, start-up, and shutdown routines for all machinery in line with SOPs.
• Ensures that machinery and equipment in area of responsibility is operated, maintained, and changed over efficiently as per SOP.
• Controls, monitors, and records waste and re-work.
• Monitors daily production plan and bulk plan.
• Regularly walks his/her lines to inspect and sorts out or report any issues needing attention.
• Ensures the efficient operation and changeover of the plant by prioritizing and allocating resources (e.g. manpower and material) to ensure product is effectively processed or packed to company specification and standards.

Material Availability

• Ensures the availability and storage of raw materials by communicating with the Planning department and Management.
• Revise Mixing production plan based on filling line requirements and priorities.
• Assists operators on the Batch Management System based on the production plan, by monitoring plant on system. Co-ordinates variant size change overs.
  

Engineering

• Assists and coaches the production unit teams in diagnosing and interpreting multi-disciplinary plant problems (fault finding) to optimize production output.
• Escalates problems to the Shift Engineers and helps them prioritize breakdowns and maintenance based on customer service levels.
• Assists production and engineering teams with critical breakdowns should the need arise (predominantly after hours).
• Escalates problems to First Line Managers and Area Engineers, for further support to be made available.
  

Administration

• Ensures production team completes all required documentation according to standard maintenance, quality, production information and process information on relevant data system.
• Records and reports equipment stoppages and breakdowns or other non-conformances for troubleshooting discussions with team members and hand over purposes.
• Ensures that the team is recording and displaying information relating to team and line on performance boards (Performance, Quality, Improvements, etc.).
• Performs hourly plant monitoring and ensures completion of shift handovers.
  

Timekeeping

• Reminds non-R2S teams to have forms filed and approved on time.
• Monitors and records time, attendance (leave, overtime) and performance of the team and authorizes accordingly together with the First Line Manager and in accordance with the Global Working Hours policy.

Leadership and Relationships

• Motivates and leads the team to ensure effective delivery of KPIs/KAIs.
• Manages activities of team by monitoring work allocation and performance.
• Builds relationships and promotes a winning and assisting culture within production unit teams and cross functional teams.
• Coaches and trains team members in operation and autonomous maintenance tasks.

Admin

• Complies to the company COBP, CR&R.
• Complies to the SHE rules of the plant.
• Complies to the GMP and GHK rules of the plant.

Focused Improvement

• Participates in Focused Improvement activities.
• Executes agreed Focused Improvement actions.
• Raises improvement activities (OFI) and OPL.

Digital

• Able to operate simple gadgets such as smart phone and iPad.
• Able to use Unilever digital tools and platforms.

Manning

• Participates in trainings and company events.
• Any other tasks related to his/her core job as may be required by his/her Line Manager.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• Technical – Shift Coordinator are required to maintain a Working Knowledge of the technical skills required to operate, maintain, and improve equipment.
• Understand the principles of mechanism and motion and be able to conduct changeovers, basic repairs, and adjustments (e.g. cams, slides, bearings, belts, and pulleys). Utilize appropriate lubrication regimes.
• Conduct basic electrical tasks within the Sourcing Unit (e.g. Lock Out/Tag Out, Isolation Procedures, Fault Location on a Common Control System and Testing and Verification of Common Proximity Sensors.)
• Preferably with manufacturing background or alike
• Willing to work in General Trias, Cavite
