Surfactants Factory Manufacturing Manager

Function: Manufacturing

Scope: Local (Site-based)

Location: Nuevo León

Terms & Conditions: Full-time role.

JOB PURPOSE:

Lead the sulfonation production operations of Nuevo León that will serve as a Sourcing unit for our business units of "Beauty & Wellbeing", and "Personal Care" based on Unilever standards, policies, procedures and applicable local and international regulations, managing human, material and economic resources to guarantee the safety, availability, reliability, quality and correct functioning of the same at the best cost,  guaranteeing the supply of Product, with a focus on staff development and promoting safety at work; applying improvement tools to achieve the company's purpose of creating a better future through our purposeful brands.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES:

Reporting to the Factory Director, you will lead a motivated team of Manufacturing Business Leads, Supervisors, Area Leads, and manufacturing employees. You will be responsible for all key business metrics, operations of processing, and growing our people and teams including:

  • Ensure the safety of all personnel (internal and external) in charge, working in the plant, through compliance and leadership with the example of following all applicable local and international standards, policies, regulations in terms of Safety, including the framework standards defined in Unilever.

  • Lead the operations of the factory to achieve the agreed production and quality plans of the specified product, through an owner's mindset that guarantees the optimal use of labor, energy and materials. 

  • Contribute to the reduction of the impact on the environment through the different sustainability programs.

  • Comply with the requirements of quality, hygiene, good manufacturing practices and documentation to guarantee product specifications and thus exceed the expectations of customers and consumers.

  • Develop through its leadership initiatives of savings, improvement in productivity and optimal utilization of the assets in charge, so that the plant is a source of supply of low cost on a permanent basis without affecting the quality of the product or the level of service of the plant.

  • Ensure compliance with the maintenance plan, identify improvements and design technical solutions, improve the efficiency of the line and comply with the production plan, make and communicate returns on time, take care of the inventory of raw materials and finished product of the plant.

  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure that the implementation of innovation and change projects are carried out with the least possible impact on the operation and without business continuity risks.

  • Collaborate with the leadership team in the factory strategy, leading transformation initiatives that turn the operation of the plant into a Lighthouse factory.

  • Administration and Development of the operational personnel in charge, so that a greater degree of mastery of the workstations is gradually obtained and eventually the level of Multi skill + Flexibility in the operation is achieved and this contributes to the reliability and optimization of the cost of direct labor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, chemical or equivalent degree and experience.

  • Master’s degree (desirable)

  • At least 5-7 years in Manufacturing Management role or similar

  • Currently live in Nuevo León or have immediate mobility to be transferred.

  • Have a high level of English.

  • Previous experience in sulfonation processes with with specificity in SLES, SPES, and Betaines.(desirable)
