Sales Analyst - Customer Analytics Associate

About the Role

The Customer Analytics Associate (CAA) is a critical member of Unilever's Customer Development organization.  This role sits at the intersection of analytics, customer strategy, category management, and sales execution.

As a CAA, you will transform data into actionable business recommendations that help shape customer decisions, identify growth opportunities, and accelerate performance across some of Canada's largest retailers. You will work  closely with Customer Business Development (CBD), Customer Strategy & Planning (CSP), Finance, Category Management, and Brand teams to influence decisions through fact-based insights and compelling storytelling.

The role is responsible for analyzing customer, category, promotional, financial, and market data to uncover opportunities, solve business challenges, and support strategic growth initiatives. This role offers a unique foundation for a long-term career at Unilever, combining business exposure, analytical rigor, stakeholder leadership, and continuous development. High-performing CAAs are curious, proactive,  accountable, and constantly looking for ways to elevate how work gets done.

What You'll Do

Deliver Insights That Drive Growth:

  • Analyze customer, category, shopper, and market performance using multiple data sources.

  • Translate complex datasets into clear recommendations and actionable business insights.

  • Identify opportunities, risks, and emerging trends that influence customer and category performance.

  • Move beyond reporting to answer the critical question: "So what?" and recommend actions.

Power Better Decisions:

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, reporting tools, and business performance reviews.

  • Support forecasting, planning, assortment recommendations, post-event evaluations, and promotional analysis.

  • Leverage data visualization tools to help stakeholders understand performance and make informed decisions.

  • Deliver deep dives, root cause analyses, and forward-looking recommendations.

Influence Through Collaboration

  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Sales, CSP, Finance, Supply Chain, Category Management, and Brand teams.

  • Support customer planning and Joint Business Planning processes.

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships internally and externally.

  • Share best practices, contribute to team capability building, and support onboarding of new team members.

Simplify and Innovate

  • Continuously improve reporting, workflows, and business processes.

  • Seek opportunities to automate, simplify, consolidate, or eliminate low-value work.

  • Leverage AI, Power BI, and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and business impact.

  • Challenge the status quo and bring innovative thinking to business opportunities and challenges.

Grow Your Impact

  • Take ownership of your development and career growth.

  • Expand your business acumen across customers, categories, and channels.

  • Build leadership capabilities through influence, initiative, and continuous learning.

  • Contribute to projects that create impact beyond your immediate team.

What We're Looking For

  • An owner. You take accountability for outcomes, seek solutions, and proactively drive results.

  • A problem solver. You enjoy turning complex information into clear actions and recommendations.

  • A storyteller. You bring data to life through impactful insights, compelling narratives, and effective communication.

  • A changemaker. You challenge existing thinking and continuously seek opportunities to improve.

  • A connector. You build relationships across teams and understand how your work contributes to broader business success.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related  discipline.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).

  • Experience and curiosity using AI tools.

  • Experience with Power BI, data visualization, or reporting tools is an asset.

  • Experience working with syndicated data (Nielsen, Circana, shopper insights, or similar data sources) is considered an asset.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • High degree of curiosity, initiative, and learning agility.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
