Business Title: Senior Engineering Executive - Engineering & Projects

Location: Dapada Factory

Purpose of the Role

To lead engineering and capital project execution across the Bars and Powders manufacturing operations at Dapada Factory, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within approved cost and to the required performance standards. The role is responsible for engineering design and execution, capacity expansion, equipment installation and commissioning, automation and productivity improvements, plant infrastructure projects, vendor and contractor management, and technical improvements to manufacturing and packing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Projects

·   Lead engineering projects from requirement definition, technical concept and estimation through procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.

·   Develop technical specifications, scope of work, RFQs, project cost estimates and execution schedules.

·   Plan project activities to minimize impact on running factory operations and ensure timely completion.

·   Lead installation and commissioning of manufacturing equipment, packing machinery, material-handling systems, tanks, conveyors and plant infrastructure.

·   Ensure new equipment achieves defined output and performance requirements following commissioning.

·   Manage equipment modifications, capacity enhancement and factory infrastructure improvement projects.

·   Maintain project drawings, technical specifications, commissioning records and closure documentation.

Bars & Powders Manufacturing Engineering

·   Provide engineering support for manufacturing and packing operations across detergent Bars and Powders.

·   Execute capacity and performance improvement projects on cascades, process systems, conveyors and packing equipment.

·   Identify equipment constraints affecting output, OEE, quality or operating efficiency and implement engineering solutions.

·   Support restart, modification and performance improvement of manufacturing equipment and production lines.

·   Improve material movement and equipment interfaces to eliminate recurring stoppages, jamming and operational constraints.

·   Work with Manufacturing teams during trials and ramp-up to achieve stable operation after equipment changes or new installations.

CAPEX & Cost Management

·   Prepare project estimates and support CAPEX proposals and investment requirements.

·   Manage approved project budgets and monitor expenditure against sanctioned cost.

·   Coordinate procurement of equipment and engineering services with relevant internal teams.

·   Identify technically sound and cost-effective solutions without compromising safety, quality or equipment performance.

·   Drive value creation through equipment modification, reuse or redeployment of available assets and in-house engineering solutions where appropriate.

·   Complete project financial and technical closure after successful commissioning.

Automation & Productivity Improvement

·   Identify and execute automation opportunities in manufacturing, packing and material-handling operations.

·   Develop practical engineering solutions to eliminate repetitive losses and improve machine performance.

·   Execute equipment upgrades to improve line speed, productivity and OEE.

·   Work with vendors and internal teams to modify existing machines and develop fit-for-purpose automation solutions.

·   Validate benefits after implementation and ensure improvements are sustained in operation.

Safety & Engineering Compliance

·   Ensure engineering and project activities comply with factory SHE requirements.

·   Ensure appropriate risk assessment, Permit to Work and LOTO requirements are followed during project execution, installation and commissioning.

·   Plan and supervise high-risk engineering activities with appropriate controls.

·   Ensure contractors and vendors comply with site safety requirements throughout execution.

·   Identify engineering hazards during equipment modification and installation and implement suitable engineering controls.

·   Ensure safe commissioning and handover of equipment to Manufacturing.

Vendor & Contractor Management

·   Develop clear technical scope and execution requirements for vendors and contractors.

·   Carry out technical evaluation of vendor proposals and support commercial evaluation with Procurement.

·   Coordinate vendor activities for fabrication, installation, testing and commissioning.

·   Plan contractor manpower and resources based on project schedules and site requirements.

·   Monitor contractor safety, work quality and execution progress at site.

·   Resolve technical and execution issues with vendors to avoid project delays.

·   Ensure completion of punch points before contractor demobilization and project handover.

Plant Infrastructure & Material Handling

·   Execute engineering projects involving storage tanks, pipelines, structures and associated factory infrastructure.

·   Support engineering requirements for material-handling systems, including conveyors and automated storage and handling interfaces.

·   Plan safe execution of equipment lifting, positioning, erection and replacement activities.

·   Coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical, automation and vendor activities required for integrated project execution.

·   Ensure infrastructure modifications are safely integrated with existing factory operations.

Quality, Energy & Continuous Improvement

·   Execute engineering modifications that improve product quality and process consistency.

·   Identify and implement engineering solutions for energy reduction and resource efficiency.

·   Support process and equipment improvements that improve material accuracy and reduce production losses.

·   Participate in root-cause analysis where equipment or engineering conditions contribute to manufacturing or quality losses.

·   Drive continuous improvement projects linked to factory productivity, cost, quality and operational performance.

Education

B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

Essential

·   5-10 years of engineering and project execution experience in a manufacturing environment.

·   Hands-on experience in equipment installation, modification and commissioning.

·   Experience in preparing technical specifications, project estimates, execution plans and vendor scopes.

·   Experience in handling contractors and equipment vendors at a manufacturing site.

·   Practical knowledge of mechanical equipment, conveyors, material-handling systems and manufacturing and packing machinery.

·   Experience in CAPEX project execution and cost control.

·   Working knowledge of SHE requirements applicable to engineering and project activities.

·   Strong shop-floor problem-solving and execution capability.

Preferred

·   Experience in detergent, Home Care, FMCG or similar high-volume manufacturing operations.

·   Exposure to detergent bar or powder manufacturing and packing equipment.

·   Experience with factory automation and packing-line improvement projects.

·   Exposure to storage tanks, pipelines, conveyors and automated material-handling systems.

·   Working knowledge of SAP, Ariba, AutoCAD or similar engineering and procurement systems.
