About WILD:

Wild is a fast-growing sustainable personal care brand and part of Unilever — the world's most successful, purpose-led business. We work with brands that are well loved around the world and that improve the lives of our consumers and the communities around us. We promote innovation, both big and small, and believe in business as a force for good.

At Unilever, individuals are encouraged to bring their purpose to life through their work. As you work to make a real impact on the business and the world, we'll work to help you become a better you.

Cloud — and increasingly Agentic AI — is a critical enabler of Unilever's digital future. It enables innovation and delivery at cost-effective scale and pace, removing barriers and providing foundations for digital business transformation. As Unilever continues to grow through strategic mergers and acquisitions, many of these new businesses — including Wild — join the group without in-house technology capability to stand up an enterprise-grade Cloud & AI environment.

WILD is building a modern cloud foundation to support its data, machine-learning, AI and wider digital workloads. The Senior Cloud Engineer is a hands-on engineering role accountable for defining and implementing the end-to-end DevOps approach and for building a resilient, secure and cost-effective cloud environment on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

The role will translate architecture and business requirements into reusable, production-ready infrastructure through Terraform or equivalent infrastructure-as-code (IaC) technology. It will also maintain infrastructure through code, establish reliable delivery and operational practices, and embed FinOps controls and reporting so that cloud consumption is transparent, governed and continuously optimised.

As part of Cloud Platform Services (CPS), and reporting to the Cloud Architecture & Engineering Lead, the Senior Cloud Engineer will focus on delivering cloud engineering capabilities to WILD. The role will work closely with WILD data and AI engineers, security, privacy, finance and wider Unilever technology teams to help WILD move quickly while maintaining enterprise-grade engineering discipline. This is an individual-contributor role with strong technical ownership and a clear expectation to build, automate, troubleshoot and improve the platform directly.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, build and maintain WILD’s GCP cloud foundation, including project and environment structure, IAM, networking, connectivity, shared services, security controls and operational tooling.
• Define and implement the end-to-end DevOps strategy for infrastructure and platform services, covering source control, branching, automated testing, CI/CD, release management, promotion across environments and rollback.
• Develop, review and maintain reusable Terraform modules or equivalent IaC components for repeatable, traceable and policy-compliant provisioning.
• Manage infrastructure lifecycle through code, including configuration change, upgrades, patching, drift detection, decommissioning and technical debt reduction.
• Engineer resilient, scalable and cost-effective cloud patterns for data, analytics, ML, AI, application, integration and container-based workloads.
• Embed security by design through least-privilege access, secrets and key management, encryption, vulnerability management, logging, auditability and automated policy checks.
• Implement observability across the platform, including metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerts, service health indicators and actionable operational runbooks.
• Establish FinOps practices for WILD, including resource tagging and labelling, budgets, forecasts, cost allocation, showback reporting, anomaly detection, rightsizing, commitment planning and optimisation recommendations.
• Produce regular cloud cost, consumption, optimisation and sustainability reporting for technical and business stakeholders, with clear ownership and follow-up actions.
• Partner with data, ML and AI engineers to provide secure, automated environments and deployment pathways for pipelines, models, agents, APIs and supporting services.
• Troubleshoot incidents and platform defects, perform root-cause analysis, document learnings and implement preventative improvements in line with agreed service objectives.
• Define engineering standards, technical documentation, reference patterns and guardrails; contribute to peer reviews and coach delivery partners in their adoption.
• Provide hands-on engineering guidance to Unilever cloud engineers, helping them apply approved cloud patterns, IaC, DevOps, reliability, security and FinOps practices consistently.
• Participate across the product lifecycle, from requirements and design through build, test, release, early-life support and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate relevant GCP and cloud-native capabilities and recommend adoption where there is a clear improvement in security, reliability, delivery speed or cost efficiency.

Required skills and experience
• Strong hands-on experience designing, building and operating production workloads on Google Cloud Platform.
• Proven expertise with Terraform or an equivalent IaC technology, including modular design, remote state, dependency management, automated validation and controlled promotion between environments.
• Practical experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and platform services using modern source-control and automation tooling.
• Good working knowledge of GCP IAM, organisation and project structure, networking, DNS, load balancing, private connectivity, compute, containers, storage, databases and cloud-native operations.
• Experience engineering platforms for data, analytics, ML or AI workloads, with an understanding of secure data access, pipelines, model or service deployment and workload isolation.
• Demonstrable understanding of cloud reliability engineering, including high availability, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, capacity, performance, observability and incident management.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security principles and secure software delivery, including identity, encryption, secrets, vulnerability management, logging, policy-as-code and audit evidence.
• Experience implementing FinOps practices, cloud cost allocation and reporting, budgets, anomaly management, rightsizing and optimisation across engineering teams.
• Scripting or software engineering capability in Python, Go, Java, Bash or another relevant language.
• Experience applying Agile, DevOps and product engineering practices in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation and stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to turn requirements into working engineering outcomes.
• Typically 5+ years of relevant cloud, platform, DevOps or infrastructure engineering experience, including substantial hands-on responsibility for production cloud environments.

Preferred qualifications
• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, Professional Cloud Security Engineer or equivalent certification.
• Experience with GCP services used for data and AI workloads, such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, GKE, Cloud Run and Vertex AI.
• Experience with policy-as-code, infrastructure testing, software supply-chain security and automated compliance evidence.
• Experience supporting a scale-up, consumer brand, retail, e-commerce or post-acquisition technology environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Key success measures
• A secure, production-ready GCP foundation is delivered through repeatable IaC with clear ownership and documentation.
• Infrastructure changes are automated, peer reviewed, tested, traceable and promoted through controlled pipelines.
• Platform services meet agreed reliability, recovery, performance and operational-readiness objectives.
• Security and compliance controls are embedded in engineering workflows, with risks and remediation actions visible and managed.
• Cloud spend is accurately allocated and reported, with budgets, anomalies, optimisation opportunities and realised savings tracked.
• Data, ML, AI and application teams can consume approved cloud patterns quickly without bypassing required guardrails.
• Operational incidents, configuration drift, manual interventions and repeat defects reduce as automation and platform maturity improve.

Collaboration and stakeholders
• Cloud Architecture & Engineering Lead and the wider Cloud Platform Services engineering community.
• WILD AI, data, digital and technology teams as the primary recipients of the role’s cloud engineering capabilities.
• WILD business, finance and functional stakeholders.
• Unilever Digital & Technology, Cloud Platform Services, architecture, cyber security, privacy and data-governance teams.
• Google Cloud and approved engineering or delivery partners.

Leadership behaviours
• Accountability and ownership: Takes end-to-end responsibility for engineering outcomes, service quality and follow-through.
• Be bold: Challenges manual or inefficient ways of working and uses automation to create better outcomes.
• Customer first: Builds simple, reliable platform experiences that help WILD teams deliver value safely and quickly.
• Collaboration: Works openly across engineering, data, AI, security, finance and business teams.
• Continuous improvement: Uses operational, security and cost insight to improve the platform iteratively.

Why this role matters
This role turns WILD’s cloud and AI ambition into a dependable engineering foundation. By combining hands-on GCP delivery, infrastructure automation, operational resilience, security and FinOps, the Senior Cloud Engineer enables teams to experiment and scale without creating unmanaged cost, risk or operational fragility.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

  • CARE DEEPLY: We care about how consumers experience our brands, the growth and development of our people, and their impact on the planet. We emphasize the importance of performance and care, moving from ambiguity about success to fairness and transparency.

  • FOCUS ON WHAT COUNTS: We prioritize what truly matters, setting clear and stretching goals. We aim to shift from having everything as a priority to focusing on fewer, bigger things that are delivered to conclusion and are being rewarded.
