Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

The Territory Sales Officer (TSO) plays a critical role in driving sales growth and execution excellence within the assigned territory. The incumbent will be responsible for achieving sales targets, ensuring flawless market execution, and maintaining strong relationships with distributors and retailers. The role involves implementing channel strategies, managing customer infrastructure, and supporting the overall business objectives of Unilever in the territory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Delivery: Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the territory across all categories and channels.
  • Market Execution: Ensure brilliant basics in market execution, including visibility, availability, and activation as per company guidelines.
  • Distributor Management: Manage and develop distributors to ensure smooth operations, timely billing, and adherence to company policies.
  • Customer Relationship: Build and maintain strong relationships with retailers and wholesalers to drive loyalty and business growth.
  • Channel Development: Implement channel-specific strategies and ensure infrastructure readiness for growth.
  • Data Analysis: Monitor sales performance, analyze trends, and provide actionable insights to improve territory performance.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety, legal, and administrative guidelines within the territory.
  • Reporting: Provide accurate and timely reports on sales, execution, and market conditions to the Area Sales Manager/ RSM.
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve customer or distributor issues promptly to maintain business continuity.

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Education: Graduate/MBA preferred.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in sales, preferably in FMCG.
  • Executional Excellence: Strong ability to implement plans and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sales Skills: Proven ability to influence and negotiate with customers.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Skilled in building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Digital Skill: Understanding of digital tools and trends to enhance sales effectiveness.
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel extensively within the territory.
