Did you know?
Did you know that Unilever Netherlands has a key part in Unilever’s heritage? It was the joint venture between Jurgens and Van Den Bergh (Margarine Unie) in the Netherlands and Lever Brothers in the United Kingdom that formed Unilever in 1930? It all started with margarine and soap, but soon after Unilever started expanding its product portfolio and and still does to date.

Across all of our Dutch sites, we work as a team to be faster, simpler, more consumer- and customer-centric, and future-ready for the connected world. Find out more about our 5 locations in different parts of the country, and which teams are located where:
Rotterdam – Global Foods & Refreshment Headquarters, Weena 455
Our global Foods & Refreshment Division is around 40% of the total Unilever business. It has been headquartered at the Weena in Rotterdam since 2018. Around 1,200 people work at the Weena, and next to our Foods & Refreshment Division, this location also hosts our Europe Supply Chain teams and a number of Global roles in functions including Supply Chain, Marketing, Customer Development, HR, Finance, Tax, and Procurement. Did you know we also have a hair salon in our building, where we test our own products as well as welcome colleagues to drop in during working hours for a haircut?
Rotterdam – Benelux Operating Company, Hofplein 19
In our Hofplein office, colleagues work to bring our products to the Dutch consumer. Calve Pindakaas, Andrelon, Unox, Zwitsal, Magnum, Robijn and Knorr are among the >40 brands that are available on the Dutch market, and which you have probably come across with in your own household. Around 750 people across disciplines work in our brand-new office location in the vibrant Rotterdam Central District, which is designed to support activity-based working with different types of workplaces and zones: from open collaboration spaces to areas closed to allow concentration; from Scrum rooms for Agile teams to a game room for relaxation, and a Lipton Bar to re-energize.
Wageningen - Hive, the Sillicon Valley of Foods
Unilever has six Global Innovation Centres around the world. Our new Global Foods Innovation Centre in Wageningen, called “Hive”, is one of these six and located right at the Wageningen Campus.
Hive is home to 450 research and development professionals with expertise in nutrition, product formulation, packaging, food processing and data. Here, we grow and nurture food brands like Knorr, Hellmann's and Unilever Food Solutions. The centre is part of a wider innovation network present in the ‘Sillicon Valley of Food’, working in close collaboration to create the Food for the Future.
Our Ben & Jerry’s factory is located in Hellendoorn since 1985. Their aim is, and always has been, to make the best possible ice cream, in the nicest possible way. The factory produces for 23 different European countries, and our employees here help to produce a stunning 239 (!) different types of ice cream throughout the year. We use the milk from Dutch cows to create our famous ice cream, but nowadays also make vegan flavours.
Our Vegetarian Butcher office is located in Breda, with both an office space as well as a factory. The Vegetarian Butcher's mission is to remove animals from the food chain by offering a complete and tasty alternative to meat. This will not only bring enormous benefits in terms of efficiency, nature, environment, climate, biodiversity and world food supply, but also for animal welfare. The Vegetarian Butcher products are now sold in over 30 countries worldwide and is increasing rapidly: the business is currently growing double-digit!
What we offer
Here at Unilever, we believe that our brands with purpose grow, but that this is only made possible by our people. Therefore, it’s just as important that people with purpose thrive within our company. We encourage our employees to live their purpose everyday and offer whole range of benefits, including:
Unleashing the potential in others for a better business and a better world is my purpose. I don't believe in ‘Human Resources’, I believe in people wanting to be at their best. No one wants to waste their talent. As a sports fan, I learnt that team-play gets the best out of people and makes them thrive.
