Role purpose

Lead engaging, high-quality communications that bring HUL R&D’s people, science and innovation to life. The role will turn complex work—from breakthrough science and digital intelligence to consumer-led product innovation—into compelling stories for internal and external audiences. It will strengthen the visibility of R&D leaders and top talent, particularly through LinkedIn and digital channels.

Key responsibilities

  • Create communications that showcase HUL R&D’s pioneering people, breakthrough science, digital intelligence and consumer-led innovation.
  • Develop stories on scientific advances, new technologies, innovation launches, R&D talent and collaborations.
  • Translate complex scientific, technical and digital topics into clear, engaging narratives for colleagues, senior leaders, external audiences and talent communities.
  • Partner with R&D teams to identify and communicate stories across areas such as biotechnology, microbiome science, food science, digital innovation, packaging and sustainability.
  • Shape and manage LinkedIn profiles, content plans and thought-leadership posts for R&D leaders and top talent.
  • Create, update and maintain R&D web pages and content hubs that are clear, accurate, and easy to navigate.
  • Write, edit, and proofread articles, leadership messages, presentations, newsletters, campaigns, videos, and social content
  • Build editorial calendars and manage content workflows, reviews, approvals, and publication schedules.
  • Use channel performance data and audience feedback to improve the reach and impact of R&D content.
  • Use AI tools responsibly to research, draft, edit, summarize, repurpose and optimize content, with human review and confidentiality safeguards.
  • Support the editing of technical, regulatory and authority-facing documents when needed.
  • Work closely with R&D, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Regulatory Affairs and subject-matter experts.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience in content creation, writing and editing, ideally in innovation, science, technology, consumer goods or a related field.
  • Excellent written English, strong editorial judgement and the ability to make complex topics engaging and accessible.
  • Understand the fundamentals of science and technology to be able to craft in-depth R&D communications.
  • Experience creating executive communications, social content and LinkedIn thought leadership.
  • Understanding of scientific, technical, consumer and digital innovation topics.
  • Experience using a website or content-management system, such as SharePoint, to build and update pages.
  • Basic understanding of clear page structure, accessibility, searchability and user-friendly digital content.
  • Strong knowledge of digital communications, content planning, audience analytics and channel best practices.
  • Practical experience with generative AI, content automation and responsible AI use.
  • Strong stakeholder-management and project-management skills.
  • Experience with technical or regulatory documentation is helpful but not essential.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven working experience of 3 or more years in corporate communication/public relations or journalism in a reputed corporate, PR agency or media organization, preferably in an FMCG/pharmaceutical/research-led industry.
  • A Masters or Bachelor’s degree in science is preferred
