Job Title: Assistant Indirect Procurement Manager – Capex /MRO Location: Mumbai Work Level: 1D JOB PURPOSE Procurement in Unilever is responsible for over 30B Euro of material and services spend globally with more than 50,000 suppliers. Getting the right services and materials, sustainably sourced and ensuring responsible procurement is critical to ensuring our brands with purpose grow. Our teams work closely with the business to understand brand needs, bring supplier innovation to meet changing consumer needs and drive financial value for Unilever through competitive buying. Capex MRO Procurement The Capex MRO Procurement Team is a vital element of the Unilever global procurement organization, enabling the procurement organization to design and deliver step-change across value chains, operating processes, equipment and business models in the capital expenditure space. This role involves procurement of Portfolios like Processing, Assembly, Filling & Primary Pack, Digital Factory -Control/Automation + Cyber Security for factories, End of Line packaging equipment, Sustainability technology including Utilities & Water treatment, Engineering Service Providers, Logistics and Warehouse equipment, Future Engineering technologies. The Portfolios range in complexity and strategy and you will be expected to gain experience, become a subject matter expert, help create the procurement strategy, act as the focal point representing Unilever to the outside world, represent Capex Procurement to the Unilever community as well as be fully aware of Unilever SC / Finance Systems. In addition, you will be working with Procurement Capex BPO partners to understand opportunities, help develop new systems and procedures to improve implementation into Unilever and guarantee to reach the shared targets. Our customers are the 4 Business Groups SC Engineering teams, R&D Engg, the global logistics and robotics/future technologies and Greentech teams supporting them worldwide as well the Capex Procurement Market Operation managers. Our resources are the service provider team where we will guide, manage and support them worldwide. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Reporting to the Capex MRO Utility Procurement Manager, the Asst. Indirect Capex Procurement Manager is tasked with Managing Capex Spend of Approx ~30mE projects. • Build and maintain beneficial relationships with BG Eng teams. • Be Local Project Manager for co-ordination of Capex project / Opex Utilities. • Be the main contact between the Global Capex Procurement team and the BG Engineering teams. • Participate and lead kick off project meetings where appropriate. • Evaluate historical data for portfolio and negotiation strategy definition. • Development and implementation of Unilever procurement strategies relevant for the respective portfolio with data from Unilever and Supply market. • Develop & Implement for Local for Global Strategy for respective Commodity. • Good Understanding of legislations / laws and operating context. • Support the Greentech team in finding Utilities technology team by identifying new capable suppliers, Supplier assessment (commercial, technical). • Multiple Stake holder management including Internal and external i.e., Engineering, Legal, Finance, Suppliers. • Participate and contribute to project meetings and lead procurement planning process. • Run specific sourcing Projects including preparation, assessment & negotiation of tenders (incl. familiarity with e-tenders). • Evaluate and facilitate Decision making process taking in consideration the costs related to product life cycle, spare parts, service required and consumptions, LCC / TCO analysis. • Detailed analysis and decision for Award of business to suppliers / alignment with stakeholders, • Negotiate legal documentation – Master Purchase Agreement and Commercial Terms Contracts with suppliers for the project, in conjunction with legal team. • Compliance to ‘Schedule of Authority applicable’ for the project and country. • Manage, advise & oversee 7 step sourcing Projects managed by (CMP) BPO Partner. • Assist the Global Greentech and BG Engineering team in selecting, piloting and rolling out new suppliers with market and/or global capability. • Lead, Advise, Support and Approve the UPA / CTC negotiations with support of Legal for "Global" technologies. Raise and negotiate Claims on Portfolio suppliers • Ensure raising Single Source Justification Notes in conjunction with (CMP) BPO Partner • Actively engage with and manage Portfolio suppliers on a strategic level giving suppliers feedback and new opportunities. • Identify and agree cost savings and cash benefit generation based on portfolios / sourcing strategies / compliance management. • Review and approve (CMP) BPO Partner analysis taking into account Unilever priorities TCO / LCC / PWP / USLP. • Continuously improve ways of working and optimize procurement activities with Unilever and with (CMP) BPO Partner. • Oversee Update of portfolio tracker for savings, cash, projects, contracts. • Oversee and Support the global suppliers in having right attention from (CMP) BPO Partner, P2P, market procurement, finance and engineering team for overdue payments, supplier onboarding KEY INTERACTIONS The role will interface with the following stakeholders: • HUL Project Engineering Team • SUIT Team. • Factory Managers, Factory engineering teams • R&D Engg Team • Logistics Engg Team • Digital & Safety Team • Local& Global Procurement Team • Vendors LEADERSHIP BEHAVIORS • Business understanding and acumen • Product focused mind-set • Excellent Stakeholder management skills • Agile project management • Ability to handle high pressure situations EXPERIENCE REQUIRED • Engineering graduate (any discipline) is necessary. (Post-Graduation in Engineering or Management, procurement certifications will be an added advantage) • Around 10 years experience within Unilever with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical procurement position, including large project sourcing • Innovative mindset with a proven ability to adapt solutions to optimum cost levels • Ability to challenge the engineering teams and hence deep operational expertise is essential • Good understanding of mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, SHE verticals • Should have experience in dealing with consultants, vendors, contractors etc • Should be well versed in cost estimation • Excellent/proven Negotiation skills for sourcing of high value complex packages • Excellent stakeholder management, both internal and external & communication skills • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. • Good knowledge of MS- Word, Excel, Power BI, Teams and appreciation of digital procurement tools. • Ability to operate in a large organisation with complex decision structures / remote relationships; • Experience in legal contracting, relationship management; • Higher skills in Project Management • Proactive and positive team player; • Good negotiation skills for both external and internal negotiations; • Good communication skills; • Methodical and organized; • Willing to travel
