Job Purpose:
Assistant SHE Manager has overall responsibility for managing SHE to achieve Excellence on own Unilever Sites and extended 3P ecosystem in scope, contributing to UL Strategy of Vision Zero. S/he coordinates the implementation of a fit-for-purpose Security Strategy at Site level - that aims to mitigate risks to Unilever employees, contractors, visitors, 3P partners, and the Company assets. S/he partners together with the in-country and regional Security leads to ensure site SHE/Sy capabilities are built and properly trained to deliver Sy fundamentals at Site level.
S/he works with Category Supply Chain teams, Business Operations teams (Logistics), Workplace Services, HR and Occupational Health, Customer Development (CD), and Communications to lead the implementation of Arabia SHE strategy and improvement plans to achieve sustainable excellence by reducing occupational injuries and work-related health illnesses expressed in TRFR and lessen environmental impacts.
S/he coordinates the implementation of a fit-for-purpose Security Strategy at Site level - that aims to mitigate risks to Unilever employees, contractors, visitors, 3P partners, and the Company assets, thus proactively implementing layers of protection against losses. S/he partners together with the in-country and regional Security leads to ensure site SHE/Sy capabilities are built and properly trained to deliver Sy fundamentals at Site level.
What will your main responsibilities be:
Strategy into Action, Business Partnering, Safety Governance and Culture
- Defines the overall implementation of Arabia SHE strategy, priorities, and roadmaps for KSA in line with overarching Global and Regional level strategy and priorities to achieve excellent sustainable results. Identifies risks and effective strategies for mitigation in close collaboration with Categories SC and BO functions.
- Provides servant, efficient, and long-standing Business Partnering: brings expertise, risk analysis, solutions, training, and operational support to KSA Leadership Team and Business Operations. Implements License to Lead and other training to Leadership required to operate and lead Safety agendas with confidence.
- Supports and actively participates in business continuity and crisis management pillar, coordinating IMT (incident management team) activities as a local Coordinator. Coordinates delivery of capability training and required technical support.
- Partners with the Global and Regional environmental capability teams to drive environmental compliance by establishing and sustaining robust and timely reporting of data in line with local and ESRS requirements. Ensures monitoring of waste and electricity consumption. Promotes environmental culture in the office(s), e.g. plastic use reduction, waste management (recycling), etc)
- Coordinates regular country level CSHEC (Central Safety Health and Env) committee meetings with the leaders across all functions.
- Expertly supports KSA Safe Travel (Road Safety) sub-committee under country CSHEC governance. Leads regular follow-up reviews to track the implementation of agreed actions with responsible teams and leaders.
- Performs offsite safety assessments for Company Safety Events (e.g. awaydays, conferences, etc) and supports host leaders to ensure risk assessments and mitigation plans preps and implementation. Takes lessons to brief Agencies to improve post events.
- Defines and deploys a comprehensive Communication Plan to promote safe behaviors in the organization at all levels based on identified risks and incident trend analysis.
- Coordinates risk assessment of and ensures adequate programs are deployed consistently to mitigate high-risk activities related but not limited to Road Safety, Electrical Safety, Working at Height, Permit-to-Work tasks, and Construction Safety in Offices and Warehouses. Enables implementation of Industrial Hygiene programs (e.g. ergonomics, noise, etc).
- Coordinates implementation of related Safety minimum mandated standards towards Logistics partners, Logistical centers/ warehouses, and Transport haulers engaged to transport Unilever R&P and F&G materials.
- Drives fit-for-purpose initiatives towards safety cultural transformation across the geography using available Company tools (Be Safe, Habit Safe, etc.) and external products.
Incident Investigation, Continuous Improvement, Audits and Compliance Excellence
Ensures timely and high-quality investigation of SHE incidents, including fatalities, serious incidents, potentially serious incidents, and other recordable incidents in line with corporate standards.
Ensure system is in place to conduct post-incident reviews for all recordable cases and is personally leading the effort to coordinate investigations with all involved functions. Ensures Lessons Learnt (LL) are shared across organization. Ensures expansion of incident learnings is done in all KSA sites to prevent recurrence.
Develop, deploy & implement plans to improve performance in all sites. Prepare, implement, and monitor the investment plans (CAPEX / OPEX) to reduce or minimize SHE and Security risks in all sites.
Ensure constant improvement in PAR (Positive Assurance) scores across all sites and compliance with Unilever Framework Standards and Functional Standards.
Acts as a Compliance officer for SHE and Security through establishing a system of internal and external audits of organizational processes against Unilever SHE and Security standards on a set frequency (e.g SSRA and risk assessments for offices). Prepares yearly audit plan (LD1) for the sites.
Works together with the Health Department to ensure Occupational Health risks are evaluated and relevant risk reduction programs are implemented to prevent work related occupational illnesses.
Works together with Workplace Services (WPS) Department to ensure delivery of risk reduction programs for office and R&D environments.
Works with regulatory bodies on ensuring the Sites meets all applicable KSA national legislation on SHE.
Environmental Compliance
Audit, analyze and report environmental performance on a set basis.
Provide expert input for the SHE Reporting System, KPIs and process (covering Environmental Performance Reporting (EPR).
Physical Security (At Site Level)
GTM SHE Officer will be responsible for Security and can coordinate with support partners for execution e.g. Eng, Workplace, 3P. etc.
Apply & Maintain Physical Security & Common Camera Standards to ensure only authorized personnel access the premises.
Conduct Site Security Risk Assessment (SSRA) & Execute Site Security Plan. Establish monthly mandatory training ensuring security personnel is equipped to handle their responsibilities - Manned Guarding KPI v4.0 or similar.
Coordinate Site Security 3P; Integrate SOPs, Site Processes, site Contract Management, KPI Management and corporate audit requirements.
Maintain & upgrade site security infrastructure as per SSRA findings & local regulation requirements.
Coordinate site level Investigations, LL communications and input findings to SIREN.
Coordinate security agenda regular reviews at site level CSHEC and track action plans.
Act as the first responder to security incident, alarms and emergencies, including crisis communication, evacuations and contacting emergency services -Unilever Standard for Incident Management / People Accountability System (PAS) or its corporate equivalent.
Enforce the site Logistics loss prevention strategy as per Unilever Loss Prevention Playbook.
What you need to succeed?
Experiences & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
3 – 5 years' experience preferably in SHE Role within FMCG, Manufacturing or Logistics.
Excellent knowledge of SHE ISO standards.
Strong knowledge of Behavior Based Safety methodology.
Proven track record in implementation of programs:
