To support our ambitious growth agenda, the Beauty and Wellbeing category is looking for an experienced Global Packaging Specialist to help support our future capabilities by tapping on the 3 key critical strategic pillars – Desirability, Efficiency and Sustainability. The candidate should have exposure to polymers, paper, tube packaging, flexible sachet formats and machine/material interface. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver packaging that meets consumer expectations, manufacturing feasibility, and Unilever’s sustainability goals.

Responsibilities:
• Assist in the technical development of primary packaging formats, especially paper, laminate tubes, co-extruded structures, labels and flexible sachets
• Apply deep knowledge of polymer science to optimize material selection for performance, recyclability, and cost
• Conduct lab-scale experiments and collaborate with suppliers to validate packaging performance (e.g., barrier properties, seal integrity, drop tests, transit trials)
• Support global innovation projects by contributing to packaging design, specification development, and supplier engagement
• Work closely with local teams to ensure packaging is fit for local market needs and manufacturing capabilities
• Contribute to the creation of global technical specifications and transfer packages
• Participate in sustainability initiatives by exploring sustainable polymers, monomaterial structures, and lightweighting opportunities
• Collaborate with the Artwork Excellence team to ensure packaging compatibility with design and regulatory requirements
• Maintain documentation and communicate findings through high-quality reports and presentations
• Should have working knowledge on machine-material interface w.r.t packaging manufacturing and runnability on filling lines.
• Should have inclination on digital tools and its application to the portfolio to unlock efficiency.
• Inclination towards consumers to convert insights into opportunities.

Key Skills:
• Sound knowledge in polymer chemistry, material science, and packaging engineering
• Hands-on experience with tube packaging and flexible laminate structures
• Analytical mindset with ability to interpret lab data and translate into actionable insights
• Effective communicator in English
• Collaborative team player with a proactive attitude
• Passion for sustainability and innovation
• Familiarity with packaging validation protocols and manufacturing processes

Relevant Experience:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Packaging Technology, Polymer Science, Materials Engineering, or related field
• 2 to 3 years of experience in convertor experience (flexibles and tubes) or packaging development within beauty, personal care in FMCG sectors
• Working knowledge on testing, along with strong emphasis on creating robust specifications.
