Background & Purpose of the Job
The Export Logistics Specialist will be responsible for managing all export activities from the Monterrey factory to North America (United States and Canada). This includes coordinating documentation, customs processes, transportation, and ensuring timely and compliant shipments. The role will act as a subject matter expert in international trade and export logistics, supporting the local International Trade Lead and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do
• Coordinate end-to-end export operations from Monterrey to North America, ensuring timely and compliant shipments in all transport modes, ocean, OTR and multimodal.
• Gather, validate, and manage export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, export permits, and shipping instructions.
• Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to ensure smooth customs clearance and adherence to trade regulations.
• Monitor and track shipments from dispatch to delivery, proactively resolving delays or issues.
• Administer export orders in ERP systems, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
• Collaborate with planning, warehousing, and transportation teams to align export schedules and optimize logistics flows.
• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including USMCA, IMMEX, CTPAT, AEO, and other relevant programs.
• Support audits and inspections by maintaining organized and accurate export records.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance export efficiency and reduce lead times.
• Provide regular updates and reports to leadership on export performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Act as a key liaison between factory operations, supply chain, customer service, and external logistics partners.
• Stay informed of regulatory changes and assess their impact on export operations.
• Participate in cross-functional projects related to new product launches, packaging changes, and logistics innovation.
• Train and guide junior team members or temporary staff involved in export activities.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
• Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in international trade and export logistics, preferably handling shipments from Mexico to the US/Canada.
• Strong knowledge of customs procedures, export documentation, and trade compliance.
• Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred), TMS, and Excel.
• Familiarity with government agencies such as CBP, SAT, SE, and customs authorities.
• Fluent in Spanish and English.
• Experience with CTPAT, IMMEX, AEO, and other trade facilitation programs is a plus.
