JOB TITLE: HEAD OF SALES (OLEOCHEMICALS) – MERCHANT MARKET

LOCATION: SINGAPORE

MAIN BUSINESS CONTEXT:

Unilever Oleochemical Indonesia (UOI), located in North Sumatra (Indonesia), produces a wide range of oleochemical products including fatty acids, glycerin, soap noodles and downstream surfactants. Since starting operations in 2015, the company has grown to become one of the largest manufacturers in Indonesia and has sales footprint in more than 40 countries. With an ongoing expansion, UOI aims to increase its market share by serving its customers and consumer with value added green oleochemical products.  

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

The Head of Sales (Oleochemicals) – Merchant Market will be the overall lead in developing relationships and driving sales to key external accounts and will play a pivotal role in the growth and profitability of UOI. The candidate will manage the entire product portfolio which includes fatty acids, glycerin, soap noodles, betaine and fatty alcohols, and is responsible to deliver ambitious volume and revenue growth targets, ensuring profitability and cash generations to UOI. On top of that, the person is responsible to develop the UOI “UniOleo” brand in the market and establish UOI as the Preferred Supplier of Choice for Green Oleochemicals.

The Head of Sales – Merchant Market will lead a team of Assistant Key Account Managers and will report to the Commercial Director.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Business Development

  • Drive top line Sales Growth with Merchant Market Customers

  • Create a pipeline of new opportunities, and manage the customer relationship from idea / opportunity / approval to order generation

  • Drive and facilitate R&D approval, and interface with Manufacturing / Logistics / Procurement teams to establish end-end supply chain for new customers. 

Pricing and P&L Management

  • Manage Contribution Margin and ensure profitable sales pricing

  • Manage Long Shot View/Position and overall Oil Covers position

  • Ensure sales of an optimized portfolio to maximize profitabilit

  • Drive profitability through fraction margin analysis

Unioleo Brand Building

  • Develop Unioleo brand awareness, focusing on Sustainability strength of Unilever

Sales Operations & Budgeting

  • Lead team to ensure smooth execution of contracts from supply to payment 

  • Develop rolling 3 month and 12 month Sales forecasts by Customers for input into the S&OP cycle

  • Ensure Customer Service KPIs are fully met.

RELEVANT SKILLS/ EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:

Essential:

  • 10-15 years of experience in Oleochemical Sales, including proven success sales track record in end customer and market development

  • University degree in Engineering or Business preferred

  • Strong understanding of Oleochemicals P/L, financial and forecasting

  • Experience in leading and managing projects with multiple stakeholders

  • Very strong communication skills especially in English. Ability to speak Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia would be a plus.

  • Strong organizational and stakeholder management and influencing skills

  • Highly numerate and analytical and able to work independently and make calculated decisions

  • Strong Leadership Skills in developing and managing the sales team

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new challenging situations

  • Ability to respond and deliver under pressure
