The role Assistant Manager – Sustainable Sourcing (Project Coordination and Reporting), presents an opportunity to be part of the Sustainable Sourcing (SuSo) team within Procurement that will deliver Unilever’s Sustainability, Climate, and Nature commitments especially related to the companies protect and regenerate, sustainable sourcing, and deforestation-free supply chain workstreams.
You will focus on project coordination and finance, sustainability reporting, communications, and certification maintenance, under the People and Nature team responsible for managing deforestation-risk commodities, with a focus on palm oil. You will report to the Senior Manager, Sustainable Sourcing, who based in Singapore responsible for the global sustainable sourcing of palm oil, as part of a purpose-led international team.
Main Responsibilities
Internal and External Reporting: Sustainable Sourcing metrics and deforestation-free reporting, CDP Forests, DJSI, RSPO ACOP, NGO Scorecards related to forest risk commodities (focusing on palm oil) (40%):
Manage sustainability metric reporting on a quarterly basis (SuSo and deforestation-free): update data in collaboration with SuSo Managers and Procurement Managers focusing on palm oil (though you may support other forest-risk commodities).
Resolve ad hoc reporting problems in collaboration with UniOps business partners and IT outsourced parties related to SuSo system or Power BI.
Prepare internal Unilever methods and communications material on metric and project reporting.
Coordinate and support the drafting and submission of external-facing reports and scorecards, including but not limited to Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Annual Communications on Progress (ACOP), Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) scorecards, etc.
Review questions, content and scoring methodology to ensure drafted content is appropriate, succinct and meets the style and content requirements of the report.
Project coordination and finance management (25%)
Coordinate with SuSo Managers project delivery for successful implementation of impact programs including on the management and payments of team budget (Palm Fund and BIMC).
Maintenance of RSPO certification for Unilever Asia Private Limited and tracking of RSPO certification status of Unilever factories globally.
Communications, reporting, claims, and coordination (35%)
Provide SuSo data input for internal and external presentations (e.g.SuSo manager and SuSo/procurement leadership team) and external surveys.
Write initial drafts of internal / external reports with narratives and metrics on sustainable impact programs of the team and partners related (e.g. related to progress on our programs on deforestation-free, sustainable sourcing, supplier engagement, smallholder / livelihood programs, and landscape programs).
Coordinate and manage team input and relationship among SuSo, Procurement, Communication, and Advocacy teams on internal and external reporting and communications.
Ensure external webpages accurately reflect SuSo projects metrics and meet requirements for reporting and transparent disclosure.
Maintain a portfolio of up-to-date content for presentations for internal and external audiences (including narratives, photographs, and videos).
Manage periodic contracts with writers, photographers, videographers, and graphic designers.
Ad-hoc support as needed.
Candidate Criteria
Experience & Qualification
3-5 years prior work / professional experience
Essential – experience in project coordination and corporate sustainability reporting. Experience with leading reporting on Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a great advantage.
Previous experience in supporting environmental and/or social sustainability projects preferred.
Knowledge of forest-risk commoditiesand supply chains, including palm oil, cocoa, soy, paperand pulp preferred.
