BACKGROUND & PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Unilever Skin Cleansing Canada is the market leader with 28% share within the bars, bodywashes and hand wash business. However, to sustain our leadership position in the market, we need to evolve at furious pace with new brands and formats in segments where we are under indexed to cater to the ever-evolving consumer needstates.  

As the Associate Brand Manager for emerging brands and white spaces, the candidate would report to the Marketing Manager. S/he would independently lead a portfolio creation and/or expansion of brands from other markets that span across bars, bodywashes and other adjacent categories. End to end demand creation would also fall within the purview of this role. Bringing the brand to life and increasing equity with consumers would be the biggest focus area for this role. This role is critical to enable Unilever to win across different price tiers but especially within the super premium segment.

We also want to ensure we are overserving the underserved community, providing efficacious and ethically sourced products that address the specific needs of the multicultural consumer in the right channels. There is a lot of opportunity to serve Canadians especially with the changing demographic of the country. Immigration is the driver of Canadian Population. “New Canadians” are now 1 in 4 Canadians (26.5% in 2021).Three largest visible minority groups are South Asian, Chinese and Black. 

WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

  • Strong understanding & appreciation for relevant consumer & cultural trends, with a focus on the multicultural consumer, and beauty categories and understanding how super premium, social first brands are winning in the market place.
  • Clear understanding of customer objectives and working in alignment with Sales and Trade Marketing counterparts to support customer needs
  • Accountable for delivering the market share ambition and co owning delivery of underlying sales growth, and profit with CS&P.
  • Support the development, execution, and optimization of the annual plans for the UNilever portfolio, continuously identifying new growth opportunities across the different categories. Drive brand power in Canada.
  • Assist in the development and execution of deployment plans with the Integrated Agency Team (IAT) that includes external media and PR agencies. Track and evaluate in market plans while keeping tabs on competition
  • Accountable for driving unmissable brand superiority via brilliant execution of brand campaigns, owning on ground activation and PR and being at the forefront of stellar social first deployment and driving mental availability to win handsomely with Canadian consumers.
  • Working closely with US brand partners to optimize communication and innovation mixes for the Canadian market, delivering on-time flawless execution of these programs
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the brand including budgets and innovation funnel.
  • Support and contribute to realizing the objectives of the Personal Care business unit as a member of the team

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Strong growth mindset and bias for action; Entrepreneurial, with the ability to identify and execute new opportunities 
  • Has excellent analytical/quantitative skills & project management skills; be able to effectively present and implement action plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to strong relationships with BG and US teams as well as independently lead & motivate internal cross-functional teams & external agency partners
  • At least 3 to 5 years relevant marketing experience in CPG industry.
  • Prior experience in Canadian market preferred
