Our Skin Cleansing Process Capability has been a major force in delivering disruptive innovations as well as driving Digital and Capability Roadmaps. It is critical to ensure all necessary engagements are managed and advised by the team so that SCL has robust and superior product delivery to the market. The primary purpose of this position is to accelerate innovations (top line growth) and process driven savings (bottom line growth) delivery as part of the key pillars of the Skin Cleansing Process Capability team.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

For innovation work, this Engineering Manager will collaborate with peers in skin cleansing liquids product development in addition to collaborating with Supply Chain to facilitate best in class product scale-up. For capability work, global collaboration across the R&D and Supply Chain network will be key as capabilities need to be designed not just for skin cleansing, but for as many product types as possible (within and outside the PC division). Lastly, for digital processing development, this position will need to manage with the global network of cross functional R&D colleagues and Supply Chain to ensure relevant tools/models/capabilities land with maximum value and utilization.

The R&D manager will manage the process design and scale up of key innovations globally across internal and external manufacturers by ensuring formulations can be delivered to market on time and in full with minimal post launch support or issue management. In a time where business needs and demands are extremely dynamic, systematic collaboration with x-functions to drive efficiencies across key core formulation development activities within the category will be critical. This will lead to more streamlined processes and unlock considerable capacity, allowing all to better meet the ever-changing demand in this post-COVID world. It will allow us to continue to grow our innovations and deliver bottom line growth back to the business and manage the continued testing and design of new process capability technology for Superior Products. It will be important to extend the current capability that is being developed, while ensuring the funnel of innovation in this space remains full, guaranteeing value back to the business when the technology lands in manufacturing sites. Land new processing capabilities in factory scale environments. Validating technologies is the first step to realizing their true value and provides justification to rolling the universally designed technology to interested global manufacturing sites.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • BS in Chemical Engineering with 10+ years of experience or MS with 7+ years of experience
  • Possesses technical knowledge of pilot plant operations across batch and continuous processes as well as product characterization techniques
  • Possesses supply Chain knowledge related to compounding and downstream operations related to product delivery through pack lines
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to effectively organize and manage workflow of multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic global work environment and manage the order, importance, and impact of appropriate project activities
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively to technical and non-technical personnel. (Brand, Finance, Manufacturing, Consultants, Leadership)
  • Must continue to develop and improve process capabilities as a fundamental skill. Deploying these to the team needs to be part of consistent delivery.
  • Digital skills a plus – for example Minitab, JMP, DOE
  • Understanding of Product, Process, Pack interactions for E2E model connectivity
  • Ability to coach and mentor as part of people development
  • Consistent stakeholder discussions and program review sessions with respective teams

Physical Requirements

The individual needs to be able to physically execute routine activities in the pilot plant.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $98,300 to $147,500. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
