JOB PURPOSE

  • Packaging plays a central role in our product and brand experience and the R&D team works closely with the Business Group (BG) global brand teams & Business Unit (BU) marketing teams to design and deploy the most consumer engaging, efficient and sustainable brand experience.

  • This role is based in packaging function within the Business Group R&D team with primary responsibility for supporting the delivery of Packaging activities within innovation & renovation projects for the Oral Care brands for global markets

  • In Oral care majority of the products sold are toothpaste, which accounts for 89% of the turnover. The remaining 11% includes toothbrushes, mouthwash, and other formats like toothpowder in specific markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading/supporting all the packaging aspects of global innovation/ renovation projects. Full responsibility of the packaging design and technical testing to meet the project deliverables.

  • Collaborate with internal PC design team & external agency/ supplier ecosystem to raise packaging design standards and capability with focus on use of appropriate tools for innovations

  • Collaborate with PC & central Unilever capability teams & BU teams to land new future fit technologies through the innovation programs.

  • Provide Packaging leadership (Work stream leader) on defined projects, collaborating with PL (Project Leader) and TPL (Technical Project Leader) as well as close working with cross functional teams like Marketing, Supply Chain, other R&D groups.

  • Build relationships with main key Suppliers through innovation projects.

  • Lead/Collaborate in packaging testing including compatibility, stability, migration testing, and others regulatory / legal requirements

  • Carry out relevant studies and generate appropriate data for commercial scale up at manufacturing sites. Work with Operations, Regulatory and Quality teams to ensure all packaging is compliant with domestic and international quality standards and optimizes our packaging supply chain over time

  • Partner Brand teams to build UBS (Unmissable brand superiority) Packaging scores and explore potential superiority claims through packaging.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in packaging development in the beauty and/or CPG industry.

  • Bachelor's degree in Package Engineering or equivalent required. Advanced degree is a plus.

  • Good knowledge of the intersection between package engineering and package design

  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical teams

  • Proven ability to deliver results on time and with excellence
