JOB TITLE: OSHE Leader

LOCATION: Port Sunlight Factories (Site based)

JOB PURPOSE

The successful applicant will work in one of Port Sunlight’s manufacturing units, advising the business on up to date safety and environment legislation legislation and leading on the safety management within a top tier COMAH site. The role of the SHE Leader will be the sole adviser to a manufacturing unit and form part of a larger site OSHE team. On an ad-hoc basis there may be the opportunity to lead and manage specific projects. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

- The OSHE Leader drives safety culture in the manufacturing unit by ensuring that all Company safety policy, rules and procedures are understood and followed in all areas. They will drive incident are reporting and ensure appropriate analysis and action follow up.

- On occasion, OSHE Leader will be the lead incident investigation officer in the Sourcing Unit and ensure that all learning’s are cascaded across the factory and shared with the other units. 

- Other responsibilities include performing regular Safety and Environmental audits and ensuring that all audit actions are completed.

- Providing support to Operational and Technical teams in carrying out Risk and COSHH assessments as requested and managing the assessment database to ensure all risk and COSHH assessments are current and as appropriate, updated within the renewal date. 

- The OSHE Leader will co-ordinate and facilitate Preliminary Hazard Assessments, advise on the implications of existing and forthcoming National and EU Safety and Environmental legislation and recommend methods of implementation. 

- The SHE Leader will also support the resolution on the Company’s behalf Employer Liability and Third Party insurance claims arising from Safety or Environmental incidents and ensure all ISO requirements are adhered to. 

Health 

The individual will ensure strong working relationships with the Occupational Health and HRdepartments to organise personal dosimetry testing when required, organise mask face fit testing and ensure all personnel working on site has been trained to fit a dst mask properly. They will also provide training in specific health areas such as safe manual handing and support health initiatives on site. 

Environment 

The role holder is responsible for the day-to-day management and driving forward of environmental KPI’s and for engaging the workforce in the company environmental agenda. They should also have knowledge on COMAH legislation, due to the site being top tier COMAH. 

World Class Manufacturing 

The incumbent will lead the safety pillar for the areas they are responsible for as well as support the SHE elements of other pillars working in their area. This will include detailed involvement in the environment pillar and assessing and advising on maintenance and focused improvement activities.

SHE 

• Detailed knowledge of SHE Legalisation and their application to the Sourcing Unit • Detailed knowledge of Unilever SHE guidelines and their application to the Sourcing Unit • Fully trained and competent in carrying out Risk and COSHH Assessments • Competent in performing Accident analysis and ISO Lead Auditor is preferential

WCM 

• Detailed knowledge of the safety and environment pillars 

• Working knowledge of AM, PM, FI, Quality and EEM 

General 

• PC literacy (MS Office) and Loss Information system • Good understanding of key external stakeholders and legislative authorities e.g. HSE, EA 

Qualifications 

• NEBOSH diploma • Environmental qualification preferred

Recruitment Fraud

Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.

How is Unilever tackling this?

Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
