ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Role Purpose

The Payroll & People Operations Specialist ensures smooth, compliant, and accurate delivery of payroll, onboarding/offboarding, benefits, and core People Operations for Myanmar. It also partners with HR, Finance, and Global teams and plays a key role in payroll transformation initiatives.  

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations 

  • Lead the full monthly payroll cycle including data collection, template preparation, validation, approvals, and reporting. 

  • Prepare payroll checklists, bank files, JV reports, and ensure timely SSB/tax submissions. 

  • Issue tax slips for leavers and resolve payroll related employee queries. 

  • Review and approve contractors and 3P payroll and tax reports; manage PO/GR for related payments. 

Payroll Transformation Project 

  • Support and execute payroll process improvement and standardization initiatives. 

  • Partner with Global Payroll and Finance teams to test and implement new workflows or systems. 

  • Validate data accuracy during transformation cycles and identify operational gaps. 

  • Ensure smooth transitions during system or process updates. 

Finance, Audit, Tax & Compliance Support

  • Prepare monthly payroll and audit reports and coordinate with Finance. 

  • Manage cross charge service agreements and related transactions in BL. 

  • Distribute income tax receipts to employees and lead annual tax awareness sessions. 

  • Review and update service agreements (AMI, OSC, Activo) and verify monthly vendor invoices. 

Onboarding, Offboarding & Employee Lifecycle Administration

  • Prepare employment contracts, documents, new hire templates, and maintain personal files. 

  • Arrange ID cards, lockers, welcome packs, and conduct onboarding sessions. 

  • Collect resignation checklists, retrieve company assets, and complete offboarding steps. 

  • Manage contract extensions, signatures, and submissions to labor offices. 

  • Execute Workday actions (joiners, leavers, leave updates, holiday updates, monthly employee lists). 

  • Oversee People Operations coordination for three factories, ensuring consistent application of processes, documentation, and compliance. 

Employee Benefits, Medical, Insurance & Government Compliance

  • Process OPD/IPD medical claims and coordinate annual and pre-employment medical checkups. 

  • Manage SSB processes including maternity/paternity leave letters and benefit claims. 

  • Administer monthly life insurance updates. 

  • Track Long Service Awards, prepare award letters, and update payroll accordingly. 

Skills & Competencies Required

Technical Skills

  • Deep knowledge of Myanmar payroll, tax, and SSB regulations. 

  • Experience with payroll transformation, system upgrades, or process optimization. 

  • Strong payroll reconciliation and audit understanding. 

  • HR operations experience across the full employee lifecycle. 

  • Solid understanding of medical/insurance benefits administration.
